I understand what you are saying but imo "not wanting to get sued" is a cop out. Have some balls and make a tough decision.
Nope...it is not wanting to avoid getting sued, it is we will get sued, the kid will still get to participate in his sport during the prep for the trial, we will lose any way because the policy and law don't support removing this kid, and it will cost taxpayers quite a bit of money in the long run. They don't have a leg to stand on.

Again, I understand the frustration and I share it. I am sharing my experience from the administrator side. They are working with what they have and it is not good enough. There has to be more bite to the policy.

They can cancel their season without getting sued. Do the wrestlers that didn't actually participate but were there really deserve to wrestle?

Can you imagine the uproar if something like this had been perpetrated by him on a girl? I'd venture to guess they would have found a way around the worried about litigation non-sense, or whatever other reason they found to not immediately keep him away from the team.

It's totally sickening to me that there are apparently a large number of people in leadership positions that seem to chalk it up to "boys being boys" as opposed to a serious assault.

I suspect that thinking there would be an uproar is largely imaginary. We'd have some of us, for sure, but history suggests we would have a large # of people blaming the young woman. After all, we'd hate to hastily ruin the career of a fine young athlete on the accusations of one young woman, when it's "she said, he said," or she magically now has a "reputation" for getting around, or maybe wore a short skirt one day, or flirted once, or any other things we use to shift the blame to women.

I don't have any confidence in schools to take care of a male/female rape situation anymore than I trust Roland-Story (or others, until they prove better) to handle this one. That's a safer spot to be.

Not exactly sure.

Don’t believe they did what they could. Sounds like they finally had an epiphany and took a step in the right direction.

How is not having an accused sexual predator walking the hallways something the school can rally around?

The reason this kid won't be wrestling this year and his team now can maybe resume their normal schedule is because of social media.

Remember that and point people to this story if they make a blind generalization of how "all social media is toxic."

My wife went to RS, and this is just a good ole boys club, but social media bit them in the ass.

History may suggest otherwise. See 2016 case of WDM Valley tennis player who sat out just one match for alleged abuse of an mentally challenged female. He later took a plea deal to avoid the most serious charges which the family of the disabled girl agreed to as it protected her from testifying.

Carlisle had 3 8th graders jack off in a Gatorade bottle on the bus at a JH track meet and pour it on the face of a sleeping teammate. They received a one track meet suspension and were allowed to participate in baseball.

I think that last paragraph is key. There might be a lot more going on in the background, but they legally can't openly disclose it, or it could just be what it is at face value and still be short on punishment.
Last paragraph got me too. If the discussion with the Blume family is that they are going to move to a different school district, then the rest is just stating the obvious result of that. Not sure if he can transfer that easily, but that sucks a lot of the impact out of the statement about no activities in the school district of he's being withdrawn from the school district by the parents' choice. More to come, I'm sure.

Good point. Is the other kid that was charged in wrestling?? Was there any from the team that was present and seen it happen??

I will say, I feel sorry for the district if it actually was an unfounded rumor. Because no one, including me, is going to believe it was just a rumor
