I'm all for it, but not sure where the scholly money would come from, but maybe we are getting into the realm of the Iowa's, PSU, TOSU's who get people to come for little money to join a good room.
Wrestling was perfectly set up for NIL in its current form. Donate to the CRTC. That’s how we will get these recruits.

Got a good one here. Little surprised they are stacking 97lbers in back to back classes.

Are they looking to build Hagarty or Bartelt into a heavy?
Just because you are a top recruit doesn’t mean a spot is yours. Get the best wrestlers you can and the roster will work itself out with injuries, not improving, changing weights, transferring, quitting, etc. Their plan is to get the best talent and let the wrestlers decide who makes the line-up.

He decided quick.
From the article:
”While Bartelt is keeping his options open, there are a few things that are important to him that will influence his decision. First, is the culture of the program. Sawyer said he wants to go to a college town that is invested in the program and loves wrestling. After that, he wants the team to connect on more than just wrestling off the mat. For Bartelt, that includes hunting and fishing - something that he loves doing to get away from the grind of competition (and recruiting). Sawyer is also interested in pursuing an Engineering degree and said it’d be a bonus if he went to a school that had other wrestlers in that major on his team.”

Paniro can go with anyone on his feet, but I still have some concerns about his mat wrestling. He hasn't ridden anyone this year or really tried to, and he almost gave up the 1:00 riding time to Murin (Gomez just cut him right away). If he can improve mat wrestling, that would greatly increase my confidence in him being a surefire AA
I thought getting away from Murin showed me a lot about his bottom skills. Murin is a grinder and I really thought that is where he’d struggle.

Who would have thought we’d be winning the battle with Iowa for top recruits that make hunting and fishing a priority.

Hey @buf87 we got some hunting ground for him right? I got a pond for him to fish as much as he wants! Hell I got an uncle on the far north side of Ames right in the country right off 35 that's got a pond that the kid can fish as much as he wants. Slam dunk for us. Heard Iowa State isn't a terrible engineering school either

Sure, my son in law got a nice buck off a piece we have by Burt. Plenty of pheasants this year also

ISU sounds like literally the ideal school for him!

There were 2 bucks rolled here on the southern border east of Lu Verne. Good looking boys. We run them cows on the creek there and the amount of pheasants this year when harvesting along it was something we haven't seen in a while. I think a lot has to do with a bunch of us doing population control on them coyotes.

There are roughly 50 deer or so hanging out in a corn field just NW of Ames (just south of Cameron School Road) every evening around 4:45 when I make my way home. My wife's boss owns a bunch of the timber right by there. I'm sure he'd be okay with him popping out there to snag a buck.

He did verbal to us last night. I talked to him at the Cal Baptist dual. He visited the same time as Herrera, Fox boys of Osage, and can't remember who else. Herrera looked huge when they were next to each other.
Cold night in Ames when he visited, so that shouldn't be a shock

Our engineering program laps Iowa’s so that helps.

Bartelt says he will be 197. Look at Broderson & Devine. They came to Iowa State wrestling higher weights in High School. Now they are wrestling 174. Hagarty could end up at 184,?Nag. maybe 174? Rojas & Gaitan both look like 165? It is a problem ISU hasn't had for years. And it is a good problem to have.

Bart gets with Durbin and 184 won't be an issue.

Just how I see it. Of course, if Herrera gets a big-time football offer that puts the kibosh on that plan.

But I could be wrong and often am.

Does anyone know how Schon is progressing at HWT? Haven't heard a ton about him, are we expecting him to takeover for Sam after this year and then Herrera and him battle it out once he gets here in 24/25?
