I just can't get over the idea of a large number of adults getting together and deciding that protecting one student-athlete was worth jeopardizing the reputation of an entire district, putting dozens of other students-athletes in a difficult position, etc. Protecting this one kid has had a direct impact on dozens and dozens of other kids. I just don't get it.

It should have never came to the district laying out punishment; parents should have stepped up. And, if they had, his sentencing at court would be lighter as the juvenile court system considers those things

Sounds like it happened in the spring and RS wasn’t informed right away.

An article I read said it happened around the time of the Super Bowl (which would be in February), but maybe nothing was said for a few weeks.

I can’t remember exact timeline but did hear from a good source that the school didn’t find out right away.

Save money all the way around. Avoid mud getting drug out left and right. I’ve heard a few other things, nothing that would make any of this even remotely okay, but may be things not wanted to be drug out about everyone involved from every imaginable angle. The more I heard, the bigger mess this all was from everyone involved.

There may also be interest in not putting the victim through additional trauma by having to relive this and drag it out.

Was thinking the same thing...I can't imagine jerking it on a bus infront of people but hey kids are weird nowadays as they say.
