Was there - was carzy!

Has anyone else noticed, or commented on, how many of Hilton's "magic moments" end with ISU not being able to secure a defensive rebound, and a mad scramble where you're holding your breath if the opponent will get the winning shot to fall?

Yes! I have noticed that through the years. That UT game is one, but there are others, I can't recall the precise games.

-"same. **** That guy & his barber"
"That Forrest Gump haircut ****** *****" sure like to throw his elbows. He’s the elbow version of Grayson Allen".
"Their coach sure likes his smedium shirt"
Grill's haircut is horrible and awesome at the same time

Wow. The announcers were blown away with our crowd. I'll be Johnny called that game a "dinger."

Homan was awesome. Really hard to compare from 20 years ago. We went from an NCAA tourney win and dropped off the next year losing pretty much just Homan. That could’ve been partly another year of Wayne’s coaching taking affect.
Homan was so damn physical and tough. What I remember most was through the rest of the tournament every game Billy Packer did every time a big would get stuffed or fail to finish at the rim he would reference Homan and how he “refused to be stopped.”
He was tough and he was physical.

That happened in one of the state tournament games we played--other team missed a free throw, had at least two, maybe three, shots to win and couldn't get it done. We did not have 14,000+ shaking the arena, though.

And I miss those old Phillips 66 big 12 games....

So yes, they are butt hurt. And most people would be if you had that high of expectations and failed miserably to meet them year, after year, after year. I don’t blame them for their feeling of inferiority which they can only mask with false sense of superiority.

Now they’re off to the SEC where they can be little brother to OU some more, A&M again, and a whole bunch of legitimate programs in both football and basketball.

All of that said, they’re tough enough to handle this misery. Just don’t throw horns down.
OK

I'll try hard not to go out of my way to do it. But I enjoy it so!

"Can we trade Tyrese for Kauscher"?
"**** Chris Beard for putting this game on ESPN+"
"I wonder if 2 is going to run out and knock those chairs over that guy is performing on".
"Hey, if we hire Otzulbergner he and Sark can share the same barber".
"Beard didn’t mention that to Terry on his way out the door.....to the Travis County Jail".
Haha. One page of that was more than enough for me.

You are correct, although the games were played at weird days back then. This was the Monday after the semester ended so I think many students (like me) just stayed and went to the game before heading home. Plus this was the period where students were dispersed throughout the arena. Tickets were split between four locations during the season. Two were crappy balcony spots, one was decent balcony and one was good lower section spot. I actually had press pass for the Iowa game so roamed the concourse shouting my damn head off the entire game to where I lost my voice and couldn't talk for two days after.

All of us boomers were much younger then and totally hungry for any kind of success. Plus ... Johnny. Just remember when you see someone in their 60s or 70s, they f'n started this fan stuff.
Barry, Harris, Tompkins, Grayer, Sam Hill, Terry Woods, Hornacek, Lafester -- and more. They started the "Magic".

Big shoutout to the Hawks for not really guarding Lafester ... thinking, "He can't hit another one, right?" Spoiler Alert -- he did.

This ^ looks like one of those poorly-shopped DVD movie covers where Tom Hanks head is put on a body double's body and they don't get
the lighting quite right.

That looks nothing like Adams on the sideline. This looks like a kind man that may run for senate. Sure there's some skeletons in his closet, but who doesn't have some?

The guy roaming the TTU sideline looks like a predator with a basement torture dungeon.
