It can, and did. Watch it again. Whether that’s what they called or not can be debated apparently.

And there is no such thing as offensive goaltending, so it couldn’t have been that.

I don’t have it DVRd, I thought it looked like it came down 4-5 feet in bounds. Unless it hit object way above in rafters that’s not likely. I guess it could have some incredible spin on it to curve mid air but I haven’t seen that in basketball.

What am I missing with the outrage over the call about ball going over the backboard or not? If it did hit something it would have been their ball anyway, no? And didn’t one of their players come down with the ball anyway?

It doesn’t matter how I feel…but getting in range of that placement in DesMoines has made me way more passionate than otherwise given they seem to be a lock.

I didn’t think coming into the year a seeding like that would be likely.

We need to realize in January there are no 'locks' and things good and bad happen quickly.

CF will be a hard, hard spot if things don't go well Tuesday.

Having moderate expectations or hopes for your team when they get off to as hot a start in as elite of a conference as the B12 is is absolutely rational and normal.

Saying you'd be just peachy-keen going 3-9 the rest of the way is pretty telling, I suppose. We won't agree on this so I'll just let it end here.
I don’t think hes saying that’s what he wants to happen. He’s saying the main goal is to get to the tournament, which is always the case. With this start we are in position to want more than 8 conference wins.

But in saying that, this league is insanely tough and how soon we forget we had two road wins with OU and TCU that were fractions away from being losses. Season and those expectations look very different. We pulled them out so here we are. We didn’t pull them out in Lawrence or Stillwater but easily could have. Just don’t lose at home and we are in business.

A couple of things, not really big deals but one...

...in no way in these type of games should Bob be on the floor at crunch time, he gets abused by athletic big's and his FT % is in the 30's.

And two........

....I know TJ said complaining about a call isn't going to change it, and he is right. But he needs to maybe work the officials just a little more during the game. There is a reason why hall of famers like IZZO, Self and Huggins do it then entire game.

I'm not saying go Fran on them, no way. But when the disparity is this bad.......remind them now and then.

I will give OSU some credit. They really turned up their defensive pressure the last 25 minutes and made ISU's offense pass it around the perimeter vs. hit cutters. I seemed like when we did pass to a cutter, there were 2-3 defenders there. I thought there were times in the 2nd half where we passed up good jump shots and ended up taking a worse shot.

Our defense was solid, but this is another game where I thought we should have played solid man-to-man defense instead of trapping in the half court. OSU also did a great job of spreading out our defense and using quickness to get in the paint and create fouls or kick-out. Maybe a zone would have been worth trying or just play a passive man with perimeter off-ball defenders inside the 3 point line. There were times where I thought OSU was using North Carolina's 4-corner offense to spread out defenders.

The loss to OSU makes Tuesday's game against KSU that much bigger.

Most of us, in very limited scope of espn+ broadcast, just saw it go way up and come down way in bounds. Even if ok st got it, why blow the whistle before it comes down?

I’m more perplexed how it could have possibly done what is being claimed, I could see it curving from spin but not completely changing primary direction in air.

The backboard is 4 feet from the endline. It’s very possible for that to happen, the ball probably went 25 ft in the air and had a crazy amount of spin.

I’m not saying that is what was called with 100% certainty because they didn’t elaborate in the telecast, but based on what it looked like on the court and what the referees mechanics were, it appeared they called out of bounds due to going over the backboard.

I’d be interested to know what John and Eric said was called.

IIRC an OSU player caught it well outside the paint, slightly behind the backboard after the refs had blown it dead. As a broadcast viewer it was unclear why they stopped play or if perhaps it hit something much higher up. The biggest impact in terms of the game was mostly that Shoon missed the dunk.

We’ve had games with high profile bad calls in ncaa, home games and b12t, but games where you get jobbed most of the 40 minutes are b12 road games like today.

I mean just the entire game was a steady stream of wtf and two sets of rules. Some of our fans acting dumb right now as if ok st doesn’t play the same aggressive style of d. It’s not a team like Iowa where they play d without contact, ok st wants to play d like ISU.

ISU was aggressive on both ends in the paint, ok st was aggressive on d and took long jumpers for 30 minutes. It’s rare that the first gets dramatically less fouls, usually the opposite.
OSU is the closest to ISU in the league, but they aren’t in the same planet as ISU in physicality. ISU was on the wrong end of the foul calls by a few, which is life on the road for every college team that isn’t KU, MSU, etc.

Do you think Gabe and Holmes actually only combined to commit 3 fouls on the game?

My point is someone said 23-12 or whatever it was and was outraged. Watch Gabe and Holmes trap. They probably commit a foul by the book every trap.

Embrace it. ISU is an elite defensive team that’s going to push it to and over the edge in terms of contact and fouling. We are going to have a lot more fouls than pretty much every opponent because we initiate more contact. It’s well worth it.

How do you know he isn’t? He isn’t demonstrative about it obviously, but I’d bet he’s letting them know.

I think having the players not complain about calls is good. But a coach can mae a difference. But I don't see TJ as bad as Hoiberg was about it. He is at least having conversations with the officials speaking his mind. He's just not as animated as Self and Izzo. And I really don't have an issue with that.

At first, given how it bounced, I thought they blew it dead fir holding onto the rim. It's a good thing refs don't do press conferences.

I want to see again, everyone’s memory is always horrible (some great research on it), but I thought it pretty clearly came down in front of the basket.
