I am not an expert on NFL personnel management and cap space, but I don’t see how you’d trade Lance and his contract at this point. What a luxury to have two solid QBs on your roster for that kind of money. That’s obviously not going to work in perpetuity. My expectation is They’ll be able to decide when they have a bigger body of work and contracts are closer to expiration.

Others more knowledgeable than me about the subject may correct me and I’d welcome more education on the topic.

Also, I don’t know how you don’t give Purdy the job, but can also don’t see huge downside to a legit competition unless they think it’s really going to create a problem in the lockeroom.
It will boil down to whether Trey Lance can compete at least as well as Purdy, and if he can't, whether he can be a good teammate about it. I think they are both on the roster next year, but Lance is the one who will be given the benefit of the doubt if it is close. Just how it works.

They should trade Lance if they can get enough for him that it's worth it.

But he's been injured, so what value could he have? Who's giving up first or second round picks for him?

Interestingly (or maybe not), I saw Josh Johnson play in college - when he led his undefeated San Diego Toreros (7-0) into Welcome Stadium @ Dayton and lost 16-35 to the Flyers (7-1) in 2007. I literally went to the game because he was considered an NFL prospect in the PFL!

The only reason I know who is because of a video game. There was a NFL game, Head Coach maybe?, where you were just the GM and he was one of the best QB prospects in the first draft class.

They're not ever going to go back and correct something after the next play has been run.
i never got a good explanation on the "expedited review" process they had the first playoff weekend. seemed like something triggered by the booth, not on the field. was that process no longer used past the first weekend?

As a Packers fan.... we'll give the 49ers Rodgers for Lance and Deebo!!! How's that sound.

Obviously I have no idea how the dollars would work out?

I believe you. Didn't either team have their 3rd string QB get injured in his first series of the game though... and had to go to a 4th stringer that had no business being on a football field? This game was over when that happened.
No, nothing like that. I liked both QBs: Vince Ferragamo (Rams) vs. Doug Williams (Bucs). It was just a let down game for me as a fan, as I was rooting for the Bucs. Ironically, the Bucs had beaten the Eagles (**** Vermeil Era) in the Divisional Playoff the week before.

I think that Purdy will start next season with Tre as the backup. The team is Purdy’s, not Tre’s…yet.

The wild card may be brining in Brady to man the helm for a season or two.

I just hope Brock can get back to the AFC Championship game, win and make it to the Super Bowl. His low salary might allow SF to afford all the stars they’ve collected on both sides of the ball for another season or two.

Lastly, my stone cold lock prediction for the ‘23-‘24 NFL season: Johnson will retire.

Nobody. Very unlikely, anyway. And considering the amount they gave up to get him in the first place, it would be a significant admission of failure to get rid of him now.

I wonder if the rules committee will discuss this play in the off season? This would be a play to point to, that perhaps after the next play is run, and the replay shows an obvious error in the call, that they could and should correct it?

I sure hope not games will take forever.

i think he will get pole position for the starting job next year, but still has to earn it during preseason.

Why pay Brady way too much when you can build around 2 cheap young QBs?

I agree completely! That's why I want to see him gone.

Jets are talking about giving away 2 first round picks... I'd do that in a second if I'm GB.

That seems like poor management by the Jets but you are talking about the Jets.

I can see Shanahan preferring Purdy but I don't know what the arrangement is for personnel out there.

Jim Harbaugh’s first year at Stanford was 2007, so 2006 was his last year as the Toreros’ head coach. Maybe there was a connection there.

This is ultimately my question. It’s almost certainly picks, right? Wouldn’t it be really difficult to bring in anyone proven (assuming they’re on a much bigger contract than Lance)?
