Damn it don’t you know teams at the beginning of the season are the exact same as they are at the end!?!? No team improves or declines throughout the year! That’s preposterous!

A team starting off hot, running into adversity, regrouping and coming out strong in the last part of the season? Literally never happens!

I agree it wasn’t a foul on Grill’s layup, but it was in every other moment of the game for West Virginia!

We all knew we were gonna hate this game.

The biggest thing I'm looking at right now is that the wheels could have really come off tonight. But they didn't.

This is a hard-ass team, and they did not fold.

Credit to the guys for holding true and showing poise.
This is my optimistic view. That game had more emotion, and adversity than any we've had, or likely will have the rest of the season, including the ncaa tournament. They were down 18 in the first half!

The elephant in the room is the string of one possession road losses
I think you are on to a bit of something here.

This team is a great TEAM. Anyone can be the leading scorer any night. But when yiu need that ONE last bucket, you gotta have an alpha dog. Kane. Niang. Fizer. Etc. So maybe that is a very small weakness, in close games.

That’s exactly what I am saying. Yes statistics show a better seed equals a chance at a further run but there is zero guarantee that happens. Do I need to bring up Hampton and UAB? Do I need to bring up Saint peters or Loyola or VCU or George Mason or the countless other double digit seeds or low seeds that made runs to the final four let alone the elite eight?

In the end you have to play the damn game and no statistic is going to help you win in March. This team can play with anyone, and we can lose first round. Get in and let’s see what happens. Plenty of teams have made magical runs. Why not our turn?

And to tonight’s manageable road game that we “had to have”…WVU was favored and most everyone picked them to cover the spread.

ok, truce. is your point that you don't care what seed the team comes in as; that they will play to their potential as the tournament plays out?

And just wait until the tourney when it doesn't matter what happened like 3 days prior anyway!

Well we are screwed then. Pack it up for the season and don’t bother playing in March. Also hand Purdue the title because we know the top-ranked team/overall 1 seed always wins…

30 fouls on ISU

19 fouls on WVU, with them in the bonus under 3 minutes into the second half.

The inconsistency between officiating crews in the Big12 is what drives me nuts.

That's my angle personally.

Get in, and see what happens, no matter the seed. Especially currently.

Yeah, this season is a broken record, beat the 96 Bulls in Ames, turn around 3 days later and choke against the bottom feeders of the league. This is why we'll finish 2 games out of first when the season is over.
After thinking about it for awhile. I'm glad we didn't adjust for the refs. **** them. We play our game.

Nope my hope is to win the conference and get as high of a seed as possbile BUT if it doesn’t happen I lose zero sleep nor care because if they have shown me they can play at a certain level a few times in conference play, which this team has, then give me a tournament run any day of the week. Ideally both a great regular season and post season happen together but if they don’t, it’s way more fun to be one of the last 16 or fewer teams playing in March while everyone else is at home. I only get upset when we lose in the tournament because then it’s over and I wanted to see a magical run, which has now been shown year after year to come from any team from any seed really for the most part.

As I'm slowly cooling off tonight, I am cognizant that we are tied for 2nd in the Big 12 with Kansas (and KSU), would have taken that if offered it at the beginning of the season for sure. This team plays hard and is in every game (at least since New Years). Am I not entertained? Yes, I am.

{And I'm still really annoyed that we were inches away from a big road win tonight, and didn't seem to get a fair shake. But, we're still in a good spot overall for the season...}

Valid point, but thing is most coaches in this league will take away option 1. And why there are so few road wins.

I wonder if the terrible start was due to bad officiating or KU hangover

Getting the yips in big moments may be the thing does them in for a close tourney game or something.

The refs were awful and it was a weird game but missing on the fast break, not securing rebounds etc were missed chances to still win.

I'm guessing Saturday is a loss with mismatches all over.

You're picking Okie State?
