I worked at Homewood mowing and maintenance during college. I love that place so much

Homewood had a student special when I was in college. Something like $10/round. We'd sneak our own beer on and have a great time.

Homewood was a block from my house. Kid pass was 99$ I played 36 holes a day. Great course to learn the game-

If I felt like playing an honest round...Coldwater. If I wanted to slam down some cold ones and whack the **** out of a ball...Homewood.

Now that I'm older and enjoy a good scenic view while golfing...Honey Creek.

I personally really like Coldwater, which you mentioned. The views of JTS probably helps.

Coldwater is nicer IMO because it is walkable. I love Veenker, but I also like hitting a driver, you only get to hit it maybe 5 times at Veenker. You cannot beat the value of coldwater in central Iowa.

Honey Creek is so much better than coldwater and it isn’t really close.

Retired and recently moved to Ames and wondering what are best golf options.

Frankly, it all comes down to what you're wanting/expecting out of it. As laid out by others, there's an option at each level from quick/easy muni 9 to scenic 18.

Veenker is not easy. The funny part when I worked their after the 08 flood we redid the whole course. My Boss set it up so he could easily play fade shots. He also tightened most fwys.

Or Ankeny. TCI is Polk City. Although Polk City will get merged into Ankeny here in about 10 years.

If you’re on the south side check out TCI in Polk City. Very nice course. Super difficult though.

Go play honey creek in Boone. Nicest course around central Iowa, and I have never had issues getting a tee time. I know it’s a little drive but well worth it.
