For some unknown reason, Hy-Vee breakfast no longer serves hash browns? I have heard many customers complaining, but no change. They replaced hash browns with “home style potatoes “. Not sure if anyone has tried them, but they are soggy, greasy, & burnt. Maybe I just got a bad batch (twice), and am not planning on eating breakfast there anytime soon unless I hear they bring back good ole hash browns!

Who’s with me??? Aaarrrggghhh!
They are actually really good when cooked right, but a lot easier to mess up than hashbrowns.

They need to go back to their original diners if you want to call them that. This Wahlburgers or Market grills suck.

I am not going to Hyvee to eat at a quasi bar in a grocery store.

Why not stop it immediately? Your going to see a rush of people shopping.

When I worked at menards, the discount only worked up until you reached your most recent paycheck. After that, it was full price.

True, but how many 10, 100, 1000? They obviously know who was doing it and they are always going to be idiots who try to screw over the system. Why punish the ten of thousands of other employees when they know exactly who was causing the problem?

"Multiple employees"

Kill it!!

Not exactly sure.
The more than their paycheck thing does confuse me though. When they say it's only for the employee and one person in their household, does that mean the amount those two can eat? If you have a kid working at hy-vee for beer money, wouldn't you have them buy your groceries for you to get 10% off and reimburse them? What about the couple who one has a well paying job and they have 3 kids in school so the other spouse works 4-5 hours a day just to have something to do and build money for college funds? I know these are the rare things, but the more than their paycheck doesn't seem like a biggie to me possibly.

They said they knew there were issues with feed back from employees, so they obviously have fellow employees turning others in, just fire the abusers and move on.

Not sure if the employees can all be blamed. Sounds like a few bad apples ruined it for the rest of the class.

Besides, I haven’t heard any other major retailers cancelling their employee discount programs. Is Hy-Vee struggling that badly now?
I work for a major retailer in Minneapolis. We still have the employee discount with a couple of exclusions. A major one is no discount on alcoholic beverages.

The HV video message said the program is going to be relaunched in the summer. I'm guessing there will be limits on what can be purchased put in place.

I think the bigger than their paycheck thing was to drive the point of people buying stuff and selling for profit. The thought being that how could someone afford to buy more than they make?

I think they bought it for their family as others have said.

I think the more appropriate response would be: Get rid of the merchandise! You're a grocery store!

The problem is the non-food type items are the items that can be sold with a higher mark up.
Then allow food purchases only or something like that. Easy to have codes in their to handle it when it's scanned. I don't know the mark up for groceries. Many years ago, a local grocer said they had a 3% profit margin, people went crazy and didn't know how they survived on 3% and kept yapping at that. If they would have just realized that grocery stores turn their product probably on average at least once every 2 weeks (some every few days) they would see that 3% was a 70-80% return on investment annually. So 10% very well could be cost.
