We're probably better off resting players for the season and focusing on March. The team seemed to do well after the long holiday break.
It’s funny you say that because that was exactly what I thought. I really thought the cancellation of the Omaha game as non-con concluded that that would’ve had the team flat against Baylor but it was the POLAR opposite!! Rattled off consecutive wins. So I think you’re on to something..,

Osun has been the bigger disappointment in my opinion. I thought we were getting a dominant 5 to protect the rim; he's had his moments but I've been left wanting more. I just wonder if Holmes is tired; first half of conference play he was really good and a big reason for those wins.

Jaren has been limited in conference on defense (especially) and on offense. All conference games.

Agreed. And I've called out Gabe as someone we have to see get going...which is still true. But I think Holmes' funk is now worse.

In our last four losses, he is:
  • 10-46 from the field (21%)
  • 2-15 from three (13%)
    • 0-9 from three the past three games (0%)
  • Hasn't had more than 9 points
  • Averaging 7.5 ppg
Jaren has the ball in his hands about 10x more often than Gabe. Gabe is positioned in the corner where there is no room to work off the dribble. This is an offensive coaching issue.

Just a bummer of a day. What are things you guys do when the Cyclones play like this and lose? This feels like a Prohm type of game...total ineptness.

I was there and it was a bummer but oh well.

I have a couple of weekends in mid-late April that I'm hoping to get out and hike/camp etc. that I've been looking forward to for a while.

Anything that does or does not happen in March won't affect that plan.

Life is good.

Dude it’s a scam. We lose to a bubble team. Our Pom squad is interesting. Much like the Roman Empire. Bread and circus and now cell phones.

I mean ultimately it’s a game. I walked the dogs and played with my kiddo.

Yeah, the older I get, the less each loss affects me. I might be bitter about a particularly bad game for a couple hours, but aside from that, there's no point in letting the play of a bunch of (basically) kids ruin my weekend.

Then again, we also haven't really had many losses with huge stakes for awhile. We had plenty of losses in the prohm era that individually meant nothing because whole seasons were lost causes. And these first 2 years the losses have come in such a way where we're still pretty happy we've simply gotten our bid to the tourney.

No doubt it’s more fun and painful when the stakes get higher, but I guess I’ve just found it not worth letting it stew for too long a healthier approach. Tough though as you only get so many seasons to live through, be nice to capture some magic for one.

Yeah it sucked, but as soon as I got home I was over it. To much stuff to get done (racecar and taxes) to let 1 game ruin my weekend.

Same I get pissed for a little bit then move on. Me being pissed wont change anything.

I also think it helps not living in Iowa. I don't see anything on the news, in the papers, or talk to anyone that really cares about Iowa State on a daily basis. Easier to move on from losses in that regard too. Which is nice. :)

I don't disagree. One of the more alarming things I noticed when looking at his stats is that he's only averaging 19 minutes a game.
I think part of the 19 min a game thing is that he commits silly, unnecessary fouls. Example yesterday, his first foul was on the sideline, in front of the ISU bench, 30 feet from the hoop. Stuff like this happeneds a lot.

They are going to need to have a couple guys get hot from three to beat WVU.
We need that to beat ANYBODY. This team doesn't have much of an offensive game plan outside of that when we aren't turning teams over. I'd love to see a stat that says "if we hit 'x' amount of threes, we win." Seems like our big wins all involved somebody being hot from 3. Also, Shoon has to get it going again. The inside/out action hasn't been there lately.
