It’s not going to matter how much talent TJ has on his team. This coaching staff is incompetent. Have you seen them make any adjustments in 2 years. They don’t run any offense. The offense consists of chucking the ball around on the perimeter and jacking up an off balance 3 point shot. He very seldom calls a timeout to stop the other teams runs until it’s too late. Have ever seen him call a timeout and design a play for his team to run. The teams strength has always been defense and they aren’t playing any now….guys have been wide open on the perimeter for several weeks now.

TJ’s strength is recruiting . He is not an X and O guy. He has no business being a head coach. If Jamie pollard hadn’t hired him away from UNLV he would have eventually been fired and that would have been the end of his division 1 head coaching opportunities. He is over his head being a head coach. He is a career assistant.
New member. Must be that UNLV chik from Twitter that everyone hates.

Him and Osi are both playing significantly fewer minutes than they did at St. Bonaventure the last couple years.
but we don't know how much harder practices are at ISU and the cumulative fatigue over the course of time that can have on them.

We need that to beat ANYBODY. This team doesn't have much of an offensive game plan outside of that when we aren't turning teams over. I'd love to see a stat that says "if we hit 'x' amount of threes, we win." Seems like our big wins all involved somebody being hot from 3. Also, Shoon has to get it going again. The inside/out action hasn't been there lately.

I don't think it matters if Shoon gets it going when at the 17 minute mark Bob is in no matter what?

Like it's been said.............Bob is in at the 17 minute mark no matter what.

Watson and Ward aren't playing at all.

Kunc didn't play the entire month of January.

Every other team in the Big 12 I'm sure practices hard and plays the same grueling schedule.

If TJ was worried about everyone being tired Watson and Ward would be still getting minutes like they were when ISU was flirting with the top 10. .

Did they not mention Shoon's injury yesterday on the broadcast? He was hobbled and easn't even on the bench at one point.

Has TJ ever been asked why Shoon is on auto-sub at the 16-17 min mark every single game? From a playing perspective that has to be frustrating, a couple minutes to get acclimated to the game flow and then you’re sitting back down.

TJ said post game the team needs to get back to playing for one another and maybe there's something to that with guys seeing less time.

Even with those guys ISU was likely not going to sustain the performance from a month or two ago and they weren't the reason. You had streaky guards all hitting and now that's covered up.

This squad just doesn’t have second half gas. Streaky three point shooters. Bigs can’t stay out of foul trouble and FT shooting has bit us in the ass.
In spite of all that, this team has still had a season which exceeded pre-season expectations. We have now earned the title of the “mid seed that nobody will want to play“ in the NCAA tourney.

Jaren has the ball in his hands about 10x more often than Gabe. Gabe is positioned in the corner where there is no room to work off the dribble. This is an offensive coaching issue.
I AGREE with you CycloneMBB...I just don't think that TJ is as good a coach as the rest of the Big 12 Conference!
Hells Bells even that FAILURE STEVE PROHM WON A POST SEASON TOURNEY IN KANSAS CITY!!

I don't think he has been asked...don't know.

But what is known is that whether Shoon is starting the game off slow with no point and rebounds or dominating everyone.........Bob is in right around the first timeout. And more times than not a rally is being extinguished.

I'm sure that had been the deal for the players since November.......just a little head scratching to a fan when Shoon looks like he is ready to rock and roll.

You may be right......who knows. Just seems the teams struggles have coincided with the benching of Ward and Watson.

I'm of the thinking maybe you go with what got you there.....and don't fix things if they aren't broken.

I know Kunc is a good player, but this team had something going and maybe there could have been a way to keep rotations the way they were and fold Kunc in to that instead of just going cold turkey with 2 players.

We have played 28 games, less than half of what an NBA team has played, and not that many more than most high school teams play in a season. The team played last Tuesday, and flew right back after the game, giving them 3 days of practice before they played today on the 4th day. They are all young guys, they should be approaching their physical peak and they are tired?

Sorry, I do not buy that argument, now if you would say mentally soft, then I might agree, but they should not be physically tired. While the season is a drag, they are young, and no one is playing 40 minutes a game.
I Agree ...I think that Texas Broke This Team Mentally...and with our coach getting out coached since and including the Texas Game is not helping either IMHO!!

No they didn't. What is his injury?

He was gimpy on the leg about 2 minutes into the 2nd half and had to go to the bench.

He tried to go again but was limping the entire time and eventually wasn't even on the bench.

I'll guess someone will point to when he injured it late in a game 2 months ago and it's the coaches' fault, like an injury couldn't happen in the first half or at practice or whatever.

Lipsey also had issues with his shoulder and Gabe has a rubber band/wrap on his knee. Not sure if that affects him or not.

Reminds me of Prohm with Wigginton, guy was the highest recruit in school history and couldn't see the floor until after the under 16 timeout.
