Practically a donnybrook...A ruckus? That was a fracas.

I think in your eyes, TJ had them write yes or no on a slip of paper and then gave them to a manager to count up.. That's not how this would've happened. TJ would've gone in with a decision already being made essentially and would've talked to the team about their thoughts on the situation and whether they agreed.I get what you are saying, and again who knows if any of this is true. But I still contend in any setting like this a team vote is a cop out. You are the coach, you make the big bucks. Talk to your leaders and get a sense of what they are thinking. But ultimately you make the call on what's best for the team, and that's why you get paid millions.
Again who knows if that's what happened here so this isn't necessarily a shot at TJ. I just think "team votes" are dumb.
Who knows what really happened but I've always found it kind of comical that a coach who is paid a significant amount of money would ever put anything up to a team vote. Take in the information and make a decision that you are paid to make. This isn't Survivor.

Which TJ has and even Grill has come out and said he understands why dismissal was necessary.Maybe. It sounds like TJ and Caleb had agreed on a course of action and the team overruled him somewhat, which is fine. I'm all for player input, so long as the final decision falls back on the coach and the coach is willing to wear it.
This happens with every coach since CF first rolled out and isn't unique to TJ in any way, tbh. I used to rail against it too but what's the point?Same bunch of TJ-haters who have relished every opportunity to throw in the polemic. Cyfan should sell shirts for the "TJ-Hatin' Polemicists".
Wilt Chamberlain admitted to getting paid by boosters to play at Kansas in the '50s. Bill Reichardt admitted to getting paid to play football at Iowa also in the '50s.That's hilarious generational stuff there. Cheating is at the heart of many championships, almost certainly here at ISU, too. You're just naive enough to think it's a "younger generation" thing when it's been at the heart of sports and everything else as long as there have been sports and everything else.
It was a joke. I realize how these things can work holistically i.e. it's not as simple as 'ye or ne'.
I'd guess you have reliable sources for this?

You are right, cheating has been in sports as long as humans have played sports.
This dude was hiding in the vents as this was all going down or something!
Wow! Would've liked to work for you. But, sadly, not a single employer I've ever had had your know-how or integrity. So, you're on an island of what the world needs more of.With every employee that I've ever dismissed (except for egregious things), I've sat down with them and clearly laid out what they were doing wrong, what the expectations were going forward, and the repercussions if similar things happened again. I have no doubt TJ and the staff followed a similar path.
Misinterpretation. The difference is that people on here seem to want to justify cheating because the other guys are doing it. I just can't jump on that ship. And if the evidence was there we were doing it, I'd bail.Wilt Chamberlain admitted to getting paid by boosters to play at Kansas in the '50s. Fair enough. I don't want to win that badly either. But your post clearly stated that your (maybe our?) generation was more respectable. There have been bad eggs in every generation who were perfectly content to win at any cost.Misinterpretation. I picked a hell of a night to be offline for a few hours. I found out about this when the CF podcast hit my feed late last night.
I have little to add other than wondering why, if this was a problem festering over weeks, he wasn't benched or suspended to give him a chance to correct himself before it escalated to outright dismissal. Because this is a real bummer of an ending for both sides.
I'm sure TJ will be asked about that and I'll be curious to hear what he says.
Maybe he was being held out beyond the back like Jaz starting etc.
Completely agree. It's that it 'appears' more fans are wanting it, which I can't condone. Probably for fear it may reach economy of scale.Fair enough. I don't want to win that badly either. There is speculation that he may have been serving a non-public suspension when he missed the @texas and @K-State games. I doubt that will ever be confirmed though.Could be. I'm not accusing anyone of mishandling anything without the full picture. Just curious to know more.
