I thought that call on RJ was rather lame. We're there any other off-ball foul calls the whole night?

Just too many TOs and missed layups last night to beat KU. Maybe some freshman nerves for TL. ISU got some nice inside looks but just couldn't finish. KU finished most of theirs.

We didn't lose yesterday because of officiating, but I thought the crew was noticeably worse than Friday's crew, who I was surprisingly impressed with.

My main complaint with the officiating was Adams would use two hands to push the defenders a lot on his screens, yet Rob was the only one to get called for illegal screens. But seemed pretty even besides that.

In the second half, we were moving the ball really well until we got the lead. Then it reverted to Holmes dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble and then throw up a shot with three guys on him. Our two leaders in minutes played and shots taken shot 25 and 33 percent. You won't win against much of anyone playing like that. But, Kansas is good and they were near the top of their game last night.

Way up there
Last night was basically an even game with both teams unable to get much going but when the shots weren't falling, KU got smart and attacked the rim every play, made the refs blow the whistle. We aren't built to do that, countless times we had guys go up soft or fade away instead of taking the ball right at them. We were the bigger, stronger team but they were the aggressors. They earned the win.

with that said, I am going to be critical of the officiating. We had takes to the hoop where KU was physical with us, lots of bumping and contact, they let it go. Holmes got fouled a couple of times on a drive, King got fouled pretty good on a made basket. The contrast was evident. The foul on Kunc on a KU drive to the hoop was so soft compared to the hard fouls that KU was committing. I don't care how they game is called, just be consistent, and I didn't see that yesterday. I really felt KU got the benefit of playing more physical and getting away with more than we did.

Overall, no. But a 13 point beat down hurts a little. Would've liked to have kept it respectable. That was one of the most lopsided losses in the P6 tournaments so far
I would have liked to see the final score be single digits as well. Those who watched the game know it was much closer than the final score would suggest. However, at the end of the day, I really doubt that losing to the likely number one overall seed by 13 points hurts ISU regarding it’s seed.

I think attacking/finishing around the hoop is something that the staff can really work on for next year. ISU has guys who can get to the hoop, but when they gain a good position, many times they seem unsure of what to do.

Can someone who knows/watches basketball more intently than I tell me if we every run double screens to free up a shooter like Gabe?
Thought Fran might have commented on this during his game call. Gabe had zero separation. Nice game plan and execution by KU.

Gabe said after the game that we’ve got a “treat” for our opening opponent in the NCAA’s..

Hopefully they tread lightly with this stuff.

Playing in the B12 doesn't just make it a given for a win vs. a non-B12 team.

CF will fall off the cliff if ISU gets beat by a B1g team or similar.

Right?! Confidence is one thing. Being cocky is another. I know it’s banter for these guys. It’ll be interesting to see who they match up with.

50/50 balls and calls went KU's way and we weren't crisp enough to win. Nothing to hang our heads on, gives some more rest before the big show.

As much as I hate KU, hope they destroy those losers in Austin that tried to destroy the Big12.
I can’t stand this past couple years Texas team since Beard got there. They seem to have a lot of guys that are just a-holes like Timmy Allen.

If we play Kansas again, I'll get a toupee to offset the Toupee Bill effect. Unless he is coaching, then I won't get a toupee because they generally look ridiculous.
It is a great toupee. Is he William Shatner's son?

A couple really sloppy stretches for the ISU offense last night in the loss. Typical ISU grit in the 1st half when KU came out hot and couldn't get a lead larger than about 7. Really sloppy ball handling down in the paint on a handful of possessions with the bigs having trouble securing a pass or rebound a few feet from the hoop.

I don't have much for tourney expectations next week. This year went about how I thought it would. Drank some kool-aid early and thought they'd be a bit better. Help is on the way next year. Hopefully they can win a game or 2 this weekend before getting dispatched.
