I think it was Jack Cooley.Who was their player that compared us to DePaul in the pre-tournament press conference?
Looks like we'll get a lot of offensive rebounds and blocks.
I don't know about overall game pace, but it sure looked like the hustle by individual players was much lower than I'm used to seeing.was it my imagination or was the pace of that game about 1/2 that of a Big 12 matchup?
Mississippi State plays one of the slowest tempos in the country (336th per KenPom). Just how they play. Iowa State is 327th so actually not that much different.was it my imagination or was the pace of that game about 1/2 that of a Big 12 matchup?
If we are allowed to play the way Mississippi State was allowed to play, which was very physical, we should have no problems with Pitt.
If it’s called tight…all bets are off.
but they just got 40 minutes of good NCAA tournament grind it out possession by possession game. They have held 7 opponents to 60 points or less, so they are capable of playing that way. They beat Virginia 68-65. Have a nice win over Miami and a very close loss to Miami. I think Pitts potential or ceiling is higher than MSU, so I wanted MSU.Pitt is who I wanted us to play, I don't like it when we play good defensive teams like MSU. Clones will lock them up on the defensive side, and Pitt's D won't be able to slow us down enough. Clones win by 8.
Well we're the better team. If the refs get whistle happy we're in for a dog fight.......
They did call 31 fouls on SE Missouri St last night thoughIn the first round especially they let the games be more physical. The refs know these games are on a schedule and can't be 2.5/3 hour games when they have 4 games at a venue to get through.

SEMO also committed about 50 fouls. Most of the calls were ones that had to be made because they were so damn obvious. Nothing like our game at WVU.Yeah but they weren't on the time crunch Thurs/Fri games will be. Plus they started out whistle happy but as the game went on they let it get pretty physical.
7. Crush your enemiesKeys to victory:
1. Run them off the 3 point line
2. Get back in transition
3. Bigs have to handle the high pick and roll/pick and pop game
4. Punish them for being undersized by getting to the rim
5. Own the boards
6. Turn them over
That kind of take was easier to post back in the days before advanced analytics.View attachment 110939 Well……it’s someone’s take. I lol’d
ISU committed far less fouls the last three games of the year and I'm not sure why(Grill, tournament refs, focus on moving the feet, etc)??If we are allowed to play the way Mississippi State was allowed to play, which was very physical, we should have no problems with Pitt.

Actually they are giving Pitt respect because Bart Torvik has us a 6pt favorites.View attachment 110939 Well……it’s someone’s take. I lol’d
