Was that the craziest jump ball ever? I've never seen someone not bother to jump and instead just push. That A&M girl confused the refs completely. Then she did it a second time on the re-jump.

I missed the first 30 seconds of the game thanks to a sluggish Clone Zone.

She didn't even attempt to jump for the ball?

Nope, she just put her elbow into Nicky (I think) instead of jumping.
Good crowd tonight.

On both the jump and re-jump she just push Nicky. They stopped the first jump ball and the refs seemed confused. Then when the A&M girl did the exact same thing on the next jump they called a foul.

Strange. That's all I got on that.

Nice pic. LOL @ the ref. (WATCH THE GAME PLEASE!) :biglaugh:

The official who does the toss is taught to throw the ball up, then duck/step out of the way and stand still until all the players clear to one end of the court. Otherwise, you'd end up with an official getting mowed over.

I didn't get to see the game, but what she did is not suprising. That team is a bunch of thugs (thugettes?). As I said on the game thread, they literally mugged our girls in the semis last season in KC. Blair must have wanted to try to set the same tone immediately in this game. It obviously didn't work this time as they got called for 19 fouls and got whipped.

The reason for the re-jump was the outside official stopped the first jump after the ball didn't go straight up...bad toss. When the A&M girl pushed Nicky on the first jump, the ball fell on the back of the ducking ref; thus the reason for the re-jump.

My question was, I assumed the second push was considered a loose ball foul on A&M thereby giving us the ball. Since this was on the opening tip and possession hadn't been established, should the possession arrow gone to us as well .

That's what I thought, too, but someone who used to officiate bb said no. Even though it was a foul on A&M, the result of the (attempted) opening tip was that ISU got the ball. Thus, the first jump ball would go to A&M.

on that one situation, I dont blame the officials for confusion, because of the strangeness of the situation. What they did was OK. However, looking at the pictures and being right there live, they COULD have called Micheaux for a T because it was an unsportsmanlike act. Twice, but again not blaming the officials for not seeing the push on the first jump (yes, she did it twice).

Had a T been called, seems to me they would have had us shoot two FTs and then rejumped..

But again, what they did do administratively was all in all ok.. heck, we did win...
