I (and many others) ask that question each year.

It has been in this general tip-time slot for quite a while, so I assume the network believes it works. I'm sure I notice it more since I'm on ET, it's a bit of a sweet spot for Central and also accommodates Pacific viewers...

I still think all that could be accomplished with an 8:35 ET tip.

Id love to get the championship game to saturday or sunday.

I think my ideal tournament schedule would look something like:

1st 2 rounds: same.

Sweet 16\Elite 8: start the following saturday\sunday. This was one of the great things about the 'bubble' tournament in 2021. This allows for 4 games each day to be played without overlap since they air on Saturday\Sunday, and then on monday\tuesday those fit better on weeknights since you only air 2 games per night.

Final 4: the following thursday a little over a week after the elite 8
Championship: Saturday or Sunday

I could also go for the final 4 being split from the championship and having the F4 on the saturday\sunday immediately after the elite 8 (4-5 days later) with a week off before the championship game.
