The Big 12, Big East and ACC have an ace in their back pocket in case the SEC and Big 10 pull Armageddon. It’s called the NCAA basketball tournament.
I'm not sure that's true. It's been said over and over that the networks really hate Cinderellas because it kills ratings after the first two days and there's some data that backs that up. It's not a secret that there are fewer multi-bid leagues than there were 10 years ago and, as much as I hate to say it, I don't think the tournament ratings would change drastically if it went to just those two leagues. It's an event for casual fans, not hardcore college basketball folks.

The more large alumni bases the better fit the guys paying the bills and we know what kind of influence they have.

It would absolutely destroy the ratings. Right now you have fans of over 300 teams that have a connection if some sort to the tournament. Whether their team is in or their conference mates are in, it gives them a rooting interest. You take that away and kills interest in the tourney. And the NCAA tournament has huge media value.

And I think you are mixing up the Big 12 with another league. It’s the opposite of a Cinderella league. It’s been the best league by a wide margin for a decade.

I think SDSU has a law school. Makes me wonder if the students are handling some of this. :D

I'm not sure...reading that letter, I'm not sure how you could read it as anything but a resignation letter.
I am not a lawyer, but I have done a lot of business negotiations in my career, and I view all the back and forth of the letters as a negotiation, that was never meant to be public.

By coming back at the end of negotiations to the position of agreeing to abide by the terms of the initial agreement, it would be hard for the MWC to win any damages from the SDS, because technically they don't have any damages anymore.

When SDS sues to get their money, I think they will win. Just my opinion.

SDSU played their cards and got their asses handed to them.

I‘m just saying pull out of the tourney and start their own. Or at the very least, hold that over their head. There’s enough blue bloods in there to make some money and make the SEC and Big10 think about it.

Not that it would really move the needle on the potential media deal still interesting.

To many pro sports in pac 12 places. The big 12 and SEC don’t have many schools with direct pro sports to compete with. Oklahoma City Thunder has destroyed Oklahoma State basketball. Okie State used to be like Hilton. Just packed and rockin and rollin. Now it’s nothing.

Being a public university, they know their documents are for public consumption.
