Not exactly sure.
Hawk fans. I don't think she has as much national following or respect like many Hawkeye fans believe and want you to believe.
Think about the great UCONN teams. I somewhat follow womens basketball and outside of the season I would not be able to tell who their big players.

how can you watch sports on tv or be on the internet and think she is not extremely famous outside of Iowa? The title game had 10 million viewers.

The men’s had 15 million and I can’t tell you who a single player on SDSU team is/was.

Nor a player on UCONN and I watched a couple games of theirs.

So that leaves about 320 million in the US that didn't watch the game. People that follow WBB know of her. People that happened to turn on ESPN or go to ESPN.com during the WNCAA tourney certainly saw her name, and for certain those of us in Iowa know who she is as the media never stops talking about her, but to think her popularity will extend much beyond fans of a niche sport, especially during the offseason is short sighted at best.

Great example. From a national perspective, I would argue that more people are familiar with Paige Bueckers (who didn't play last season) than Caitlin. Certainly Angel Reese is a bigger brand than Caitlin too, despite less gaudy stats.

Correct. And people that know of her aren't all fans of her. That's all I was getting at. I would guess that given her on court antics and demeanor, she may have just as many haters as fans. Similar to LeBron. She obviously has 3 million or so fans in the state of Iowa.

State only has 3 1/2 million. Don’t think they are all fans.

Was watching the news on WHO last night and my son who goes to Iowa started talking about Caitlyn Clark. I was like you wait, when sports comes on I bet you they mention something about her. Low and behold what was Murph’s lead story? Yep, she got the B1G female athlete of the year award. My son was speechless!! I was like yeah they have some sort of weird fetish for her. Just a bunch of panty smelling weirdos on WHO sports.
Wait … that’s news… why the issue with it?

I honestly don't understand who's following her in the gallery at 8:30am, Wednesday morning after 4th of July.
I can kind of understand fans filling up arenas to watch her play basketball, but watching her golf?

This is all becoming very odd to me.
Tavern Hoks...they just headed to the golf course after the bars closed.

Bueckers has over a million followers on IG. Reese over two million. Clark doesn’t even have 750k.

I forgot who was even in the title games for men's and women's until now.

Perhaps the greatest impact Clark could have on the WNBA is if they decide to capitalize on her "logo 3's." If they experiment with a 4- or 5-point shot and it catches on, that would be truly impacting the game. It might take away from the "purity" of the game, but also might make it more interesting.

P.S. I'm not saying that it is likely to happen, but it is the scenario through which she could possibly have impact. Simply being a volume shooter/scorer won't do it.

The crowd was going nuts after she took a practice swing. Good Grief.
People got in line very early in the morning to get her autograph at an I-Cubs game in extreme heat.

newbie @tavrncy dumbs my post. Obviously he/she is not aware of ther drooling, love fest, and arse-kissing that WHO-TV sports crew has for her. Thinking tavrn is really a hawk.
kinda like channel 8 sports and their lovefest for CC. I won't even watch sports when they lead off with stories about her.
