Hottest week of the year so far coming up for the Midwest. Boating the "rage". Tell us your favorite boat mishap story. And while you're thinking about it .... here's one from Lake of the Ozarks Saturday night.

I'm going to judge by those pictures that boat wasn't going at a no wake speed.

So we have people driving around fast after dark completely wasted. What could possibly go wrong?

Reminds me of Alex Fernandez, dude slammed into a rock jetty at night being an idiot.

I was on a real busy lake over the 4th and there were several people driving around without their lights on at night. Not super fast but that's still just really stupid.

I don't see a lot of idiocy from full motorboats but the jet skiing crowd is full of morons.

I know that house. It comes out on a pier. Never drive at night at the Ozarks. To many drunk idiot that don't know how to boat. By the size of this boat, I am shocked a guy made this big of a mistake. Had to be drunk

When I was 13 or 14, our dads took me and a buddy fishing in Minnesota. We went out on a boat by ourselves and went through a portage. When we came back through, we couldn't get the motor to lower back down, so we tooled across the lake with the motor up. Took about an hour to go a mile.

Boat owner here. Besides booze the the biggest issue I have with a lot of boat owners is how few actually attach the kill switch to themselves. In regards to jet skis, I don't mind them too much, the most frustrating part is when they're by no wake buoys hitting the throttle/doing tricks and then sending those waves into the ramps or docks. Wife and I have launching and loading down to a T but a lot of people don't.

Had a buddy with a cabin on Del-hi and their boats were old and had issues about every time we went out.

The running joke was you could never have anything scheduled if you went out with him because the chances were very good you'd be out on the lake for a very long time and get toe'd back by someone.

Jet skiers tend to seem to have a complex where they need to showcase their 'skills' so they buzz the shore line. Many places have ordinances of 100-200 feet for distance from docks and shore line and many don't come close to following that.

In laws had a condo at Lake Ozarks from 85 to 2010. Just down from 21 MM and the days of Shooters 21. The first real mega bar at the lake. Sometime around 2000 a guy left Shooters drunk as a skunk in a cigarette boat with his girlfriend. Headed straight across the lake full throttle into the shore and into massive trees. Believe both died.

I remember that. They did both die. I was at Shooters and Nelly and his Crew were always at that bar.

My biggest issue with jet skis is they are generally 2-3 young inexperienced kids riding them on our lake. Have had multiple run in where they are trying to jump our wake and have had at least twice a jet ski come within 10-15 feet of kids on tube jumping wake behind it. Just had a bad accident a few weeks ago with two 14 year old girls plowing into a boat misjudging it trying to jump its wake.
