Thanks, WOI, whats the deal with the non HD episode of LOST? Neither on DirecTV or OTA.

Only halfway through the episode so far, but I was really hoping to find out more about the "smoke monster" other than where it came out of.

Well, it's tape delayed because of the game. Apparently WOI doesn't have the ability to record an HD program and play it back in HD.

FWIW, i'm out of the market tonight and already watched the episode. I won't say anything until it's done airing there, except that I thought it was good.

Weird stuff going on with tv right now. Yesterday morning we woke up with Dayton, Ohio local stations instead of here. After a couple of hours it went back.

Seemed like a setup episode. Apparently, Eloise says "that will have to do" when Ben said thats all he could get.

Should be interesting. Also, it was interesting to see Jack's Dad again.

A couple things stood out to me:

1. We already knew that the smoke monster was a "security system" but we got a little more info now that we know its a security system to protect the temple. I'm assuming that temple we saw is where the Others went right before the island moved for the first time.

2. We got confirmation that Charlotte had indeed been on the island before. When she told Farraday that some "scary guy" told her she would die on this island if she ever came back as a kid and then told Farraday it was him that seems to make sense now with the first episode of this season when we see Farraday "working" with the Dharma initiative. He obviously goes back in time and tries to warn her to stay away.

3. The look on Ben's face when Desmond said "Are you guys here to see Farradays mother too?" It appeared Ben had no idea about that relationship.

4. We saw Christian Shepard and assuming that its Jacob/The Island using him to communicate tell John Locke to bring everyone back. We also see Charlotte as shes dying go into some trance and tell Farraday that the island is "death." and they can't let the others come back. This seems to go hand in hand with last seasons finale when Kate sees Claire in Aaron's room and Claire tells Kate she can NOT bring Aaron back to the island. If the island wants them back, who doesn't want them back!?!?

I want to see down there so bad it hurts.

Did you notice that before Locke dissapeared Christian said "say hi to my son" I dont think hes Jacob, I think hes Christian, unless his son is someone else.

I'm pretty sure that we have confirmation from the producers that Christian is 100% dead. I've always thought that the island is using him for communication to the Losties. If your dead body is on the island, it can use you to communicate to the living.

Didn't Ben identify him as Jacob though? I'm probably thinking wrong here.

I think Christian is dead because he would not help John Locke up.

Has "Eloise" made a previous appearance in another episode? I know Desmond has been looking for Faraday's mother, but I'm sensing I missed something there. Has she been established as another character (Eloise) previously? Why the surprise?

Yes he is. I agree. But so is Locke in the future yet they have to bring his body back. Maybe Jack transporting his fathers body back from Australia is important. The island was making sure Christians body made it back to the island instead. We may find out the Christian was there before as well.

Remember that random spider bite episode a few seasons ago? I'm calling it that Locke is not dead at the moment. Rather, he was bitten by the spider and now in a casket.....to trick Ben for once.

I thought some good info came from this episode. Oh man-

I dont remember that. I remember the spider that bit Paolo and that chick that ultimately buried them alive.

Ahh, but why was that little random episode put in then? I think it is significant. Jack's dad mentions to Lock before spinning the wheel that why should he ever trust Ben. This might be the huge suprise on Ben....and Locke brings back some of the O6.

There was an episode in which Desmond wanted to buy Penny an egagement ring. Eloise was the clerk that told him not to buy a ring or wouldn't sell it to him, it's hard to remember. That was last season I believe.

This was the episode where Desmond first starts time traveling. I believe its when he starts having flashes after the hatch explosion. He goes into the past when he breaks up with Penny and decides that he wants to propose to her instead. He goes to the jewelry store to buy the engagement ring and the jeweler working is Eloise. She tells him that he will not propose to her and that he has to go the island.
