at least you could go by Mary. One of my roommates in Ames told the story of a girl from his hometown in Wisconsin. Her name is Marijuana Pepsi. Years later I heard the radio show Bob and Tom talk about her. She has become very successful. Earned a PhD.
I know classic/retro names are in, but I didn’t expect people to start bringing back “son of [father’s name]”Jaxsyn
I have a coworker whose name is Nick and his son is Nixon
Was her real name Rosy? When I was in grade school there was a Bush family who had a whole passel of kids. The one in my class was Rose. Rose Bush.
I went to school with a girl who said all the women in her family were named Martha. They each went by their middle names to avoid confusion. Not a weird name, but a unique naming strategy. Two others that I don’t know personally, but I can vouch exist (and are actual names that were well thought out, unlike some of Elon Musk’s children’s names) are Billings Learned Hand, and a German family where every male is given the name Heinrich. They have to give them numbers to keep them separate (so like Heinrich XII Reuss) and the numbers have to reset after a while.
One of my friends wrote "Danger" in for his middle name on the cards they (used to?) use to read off names during graduation at ISU on a bet. My gf at the time was graduating, so I happened to be there. I remember thinking "I don't think..."“Danger” (soft G) is a family name in one line of our extended families, so @Mr Janny immediately wanted to give our son that as a second middle name. I disagreed, as I didn’t want it to be a self-fulfilling prophecy. Janny and our older daughter were home with a stomach bug the day I signed the birth certificate before hospital discharge, so I ultimately won by default.
…We should have just given the child the name, because he couldn’t be much more reckless than he is now.
Yeah, my deceased ex father-in-law had that kind of naming. Both he and his brother had the same first name. Both went by their middle names. I believe it was a tradition handed down through the generations.I went to school with a girl who said all the women in her family were named Martha.
