Does anyone know why J. Brock, Remsburg and Lee are not practicing with the team? Is this part of the gambling thing too? The season looks more like a disaster every day.

I must have missed the discussion on this, but if these guys are facing a suspension at worst (aside from Dekkers, obviously), why would they be withheld from practice? Wouldn't potential eligibility concerns and game forfeiture only apply if they actually saw the field in a game?

As far as I'm aware there would only be concerns from playing an ineligible player in a game. I have no idea why they would be held out of practice.

College athletes betting on their own games absolutely will NEVER be okay... it would end the sport. It cannot be allowed to happen... period.

Nobody is ruining Hunter Dekkers' career except for Hunter Dekkers. Don't play the victim card here... nobody is buying it. You do stupid things... and you pay the consequences. The vast majority of the team wasn't stupid... and will be playing football for ISU this fall. That's the way life goes... as it should.

Yet these schools have no issues with players sitting around the football players lounge on their downtime, with phones and ESPN on talking about betting lines with DraftKings/FanDuel being advertised every 3 seconds.

From what I gather....

Dekkers is in trouble because he was underaged and gambling. His name is out in the media because he faces potential criminal charges.

Remsburg, Brock, Hanika and Lee are being held out because they gambled but were of legal age. It wasn't breaking legal law. But they could/should be facing NCAA suspension, which has not been set yet.

That and using someone else's name (his mom's account) to place bets

Rumor now is that Lee is done, and that might be true for the rest of them too.

All that was known though, wasn't it? The point of my question is why, aside from Dekkers, all these guys are being withheld from practice. Withholding them from games would make sense, but no NCAA potential suspension should affect their ability to practice, should it?

I sort of feel sorry for these guys, but damn it they were told do NOT do this. Sometimes actions have consequences.
Their loss, I think I could have not bet for free education, top notch athletic care, nutrition, stipend, swag and maybe some NIL cash. (No idea if any if these guys were receiving NIL I assume Deckers was)

I don't think we know the details of how much or on what these guys bet on. I would think that the football team has some idea, but who knows if they actually have facts from the DCI. Until you know a guy is going to be able to play this year, why would you want him at camp.

CF has a Hunter Dekkers shirt and a Paniro Johnson one. Neither one is probably a ton of NIL money, but still something.

Well sure, they're also told not to drink and drive. Some do, get caught, and serve a 1 game suspension. Are those players held out all camp too? I doubt it.

It makes sense if they're all suspended 6 games or more as that allows you to play the guys that are going to start the season and get them reps. It makes no sense if they're suspended 1 game or less. Would you really play a guy against Iowa that hadn't practiced at all since the spring?

I can see the team wanting to get the most reps for the guys that will be playing. Once suspensions are final, then I would think they would be back at practice maybe a month prior to eligibility. If they get one or two games, then they will have to wait until they are ready, need the guys who for sure playing with all the attention for now.
