Well in their defense he did come with a high cost.

Harder to say he wasn't worth the pick, the guys taken right after him are studs, and Mr. Irrelevant is winning the job.

Delusional, but it's sports.
I can't remember who said it, but I just remember watching some sports commentary show and one of the people said something like the problem isn't teams drafting a bust, it's teams not willing to admit they drafted a bust.

It's true in life in general. A lot of bad decisions get doubled down on because many people are unwilling to admit they were wrong and chalk it up as a loss.

As more of an NBA junkie I find myself preaching this to people regarding second round NBA picks.

Yes second round pick isn't guaranteed an NBA contract and plenty never really play in the league...but you still want that situation because there's an NBA GM who has his ego invested in the player producing something. If nothing else that makes it worth being that #60 pick as opposed to the guy who might have been #61, it's certainly worth more than the freedom of an agent to find the right fit for an undrafted free agent on a g league team.

Not saying Brock is the greatest player on the 49ers roster, but you could make an argument he is their most valuable player.

  1. The QB position is always the most important position on a football team.
  2. Brock is 7-0 in all games in which he has started and finished.
  3. NFL QB's probably average what, $40 million per year? Because the 49ers have Brock locked into a 3 year minimum wage type contract that averages around $1 million per year, they are able to pay that much more to guys like McCaffrey, Deebo, Kittles, Bosa, Warner, etc... In other words, Brock enables the 49ers to afford to hold onto the greatest supporting cast in the NFL.
  4. There is no other QB in the NFL who offers a better return on investment.

Anyone have any of those "special" links?
Is the NFL package more widely available this year beyond what it has been in the past (DirectTv or whatever it was through)? Would definitely consider this year between SF and the Jets.
