Brock has seemed to roll out the wrong way when in trouble/make some passes he shouldn't.
If he throws it away when he should, he'll be fine.
They will have film on him. He’ll definitely be forced into situations more often he doesn’t like. There will also likely be some regression to the mean a little bit and some of the passes that DBs dropped last year will be picked off.

But he’s also had a LOT more time with the ones and coached as such now. And has a coach that knows how to utilize weapons (which they have a crazy amount of as well). I’ll probably always be a Brock apologist but I truly think he will be fine.

And we know Purdy will put in the work to do what he can to compete but also accept and do what's needed for whoever he's playing with.

Absolute worst case, bottom of the barrel scenario for him is being on a roster in some capacity, even if it's the back up, and a vast majority of us would sign up for that kind of job any day.

The problem is going to be that there's almost no way Purdy can look as good this year as he did last year and that will cause overreactions to his play. He caught lightning in a bottle with schedule, dropped INTs, no tape, etc). While I think he's got a legit chance of being good (he's a good game manager even without a big arm), he's not going to have a perfect season. Their system is designed for a guy like him, so long as he makes good in-game decision making.

Cowherd has actually been pro-purdy. I think in general is to has been much better towards purdy than lance
I was referring more to Cowherd's trolling of fanbases because it will generate traffic or increase listenership. (i.e when we went scorched earth on Iowa football a few years back and hasn't let up since)

It’s so annoying trying to follow Brock and you get all the idiot Niners fans obsessed with Trey Lance. What a dysfunctional Fanbase they are.

Well in their defense he did come with a high cost.

Harder to say he wasn't worth the pick, the guys taken right after him are studs, and Mr. Irrelevant is winning the job.

Delusional, but it's sports.

QB2 is always the most popular guy when your starter isn't Tom Brady. For the most part its 1 or 2 extremely vocal guys like Grant Cohn. Complaining that Lance isn't getting a fair shake and the head coach should be fired. The comments are their posts are all the other 49ers fans telling them they're stupid. The entire argument is this: we know better than the coaches and players that are saying Brock is their QB1. We acknowledge that Lance has looked like ****, but they are sabotaging him because they like Brock. We need to see Lance treated like Brock so we can make up our minds. Its utterly ridiculous! If Lance was better the coaches would be starting him. If Lance was better the players would be saying he's our QB. The truth is that its been 100% the opposite. Lance has played bad enough people are saying he's getting passed for QB2 by Darnold and even some suggesting they'd cut him off the 53 man roster. I highly doubt he's cut, but the Pro Lance guys need their heads examined and most of the niners fans are telling them just that in the comments.

I will say I think Lance is an athletic freak but there's a reason he ended up at NDSU and not a power 5 school. There's more than athletic ability involved with making a QB out of someone.

Seems like their fans are mostly off the Lance train and all in on Darnold as QB 2. Some of their media has said Darnold has the most arm talent out of the QBs, but mentally in games doesn't have what Brock has. However, I think Brock has a shorter leash with Darnold around than he did with Lance.

Welcome to pro sports fandom. Everyone is obnoxious, and no league's fans are worse than the NFL.

I’m not so sure about that, do athletic freaks get sacked four times in a half? He wasn’t able to evade pressure a single time to create a positive play with his legs.

Maybe I’m putting too much weight into one game, but that first preseason game was truly a terrible performance by Trey Lance.
