I’ll drink to thisI will only purchase Ames lager as a regular beer. I'll branch out with some varieties every now and then, but I plan on trying to make it 75% of my beer consumption

I'd be tempted to get that response via email and then forward it up the HyVee ladder.Guy should be fired for that attitude. Central Iowa is just as much, if not more, Cyclone territory than Hawkeye.
Time to go in once a day and same with Johnston location when they get it. Buy a six pack of Ames lager and go to her register every time. That way she has to check you out and don’t say a word. I would make sure to walk by the Johnston employee also with it in my hands not say a word. That will get under their skin more than anything. She was probably trying to make conversation. I'd suggest a tougher skin if a middle aged hy-vee cashier can get to you. If you belittle ISU, Ames, our fans, I get it. That pisses me off. But dumb rivalry ribbing is normal.
IF its easily accessible, I'll be right there with you. I'm a small town eastern Iowa guy and I fear that Ames Lager will only get purchased by me when I stumble across it when in Cedar Rapids or Dubuque. Please please please Fareway, bring it to the common folk!I will only purchase Ames lager as a regular beer. Saw that West O had a huge launch party at their brewery yesterday. White, Cardinal, and Yellow T Shirts with the label on it. Looked like a great crowd!
Still some there as of 3:00.I just picked up two six packs at the Grimes Hy-Vee. There were none in the cooler, but they were on an end cap in the middle. Probably a couple dozen six packs left as of 2:15.
I can understand why breweries would be weary to pick sides. There was a bunch of chatter here about avoiding Exile after they announced Swarm. I think it's probably a net win though, but I get why they don't want to potentially alienate half their customer base. The breweries that passed on this are going to be kicking themselves. What a huge boon to West O. Obviously sales will level off, but not capitalizing on the loyalty of ISU fans is foolish. We eat (or drink) this stuff up.
Good to know. What an idiotic take. The guy at Johnston HyVee is not my fave. I've gotten attitude from him before too when we asked about Cody Road. "We don't have it and aren't interested in getting it if it's Cyclone."
Yeah I could see that with Exile or Big Grove, 2 of the bigger breweries. But the boost this gives smallish/medium breweries has to be hugeI can understand why breweries would be weary to pick sides. Out at Lincoln Center Hy-Vee, Cyclone Liquor, and Fareway. Was going to grab a couple more. Currently cracked my first one and have to say it’s a very good brew pretty smooth tasting. Never had the Swarm piss to compare it to.I'm going to be leaving work in the next hour or so, anybody got an update on where to find Ames Lager in Ames? I read above Cyclone Liquors is sold out. Would the Filling Station have it?
That's $2 more each than Waukee Hyvee. Weird price difference.$13.99 at West Ames Hy-Vee. They have maybe 8 to 10 6-packs left from what I saw.
