not sure, I know a few people that said they were able to get it to work on Apple, but mine on google and several others on google would not work.

Be interested to know if it was just Google, or if it was Apple too that was having problems.
Big family in front of me using apple wallet got in with no issue and so did I with the apple wallet. What DID slow us down was the adult scanned one and went through the barrier. Then it was one by one through the barrier as the ticket scanned good. Last year I could stand there for 5 -10 seconds and scan 4 tickets in a row quickly. We all move in at once.

We were able to do that. Scanned all 5 at once and the turnstile would allow that many people through after. You don’t have to scan then let one through then scan again.

On the barcodes, it was a bit odd in that my dad with his Apple wallet got a barcode. My Apple wallet used NFC. I don’t know what settings were different, but the NFC worked so much better than trying to scan just because of the way you had to stick your phone into the scanner in a certain way.

Sure wish the gal in my line knew that. It was scan a ticket and walk though.

Game 1 for everyone
Sounds like there was at least some new equipment, too. One of the folks scanning SEZ tickets said that the handheld scanners they were using were brand new, and some of them were working better than others.

We spent 30 minutes in line at the south entrance and we're probably still 15-20 minutes from getting in when people near us in line just pushed through the barricades and people just started flooding into the stadium. So they definitely did not choose to just start letting people in, it was forced.

There were some calls to do that from the back of the line, at the North gate, but if it happened, it was after we got through. I understand the sentiment, but I disagree with the mob mentality. Those workers didn't have any control over the new system. Not their fault. Rushing the gates is how people get hurt.

This is the reason why the AD must fix whatever broke immediately. People are paying more than $200 a ticket to come to these games, park, etc. And then you can't get them in until well after the game starts. I'd be moving barricades too.

Zero issues using the bar code in Google Wallet.
Did you try the tap feature? Or just went to barcode?

The people behind me were getting loud and yelling to let people in, so after several attempts by me and the attendant with my phone they just waved us in.

Can you get to that gate from both the north and south side? I remember using that gate when they played Oklahoma in probably 2018 and was surprised it was still there...Nobody was hardly using it.
From the south side, yes.

From the north side you have to walk out to Beach and then south to the entrance to the Reimen entrance and then work your way to the entrance on the west side. About a one beer walk from the Hilton lots, not that I would know anything about that though……;)

Before the new football buildings were built you could access the west gate from the north and walk around the outside perimeter of the stadium to the west gate. Now they have it blocked off , hence the re direct on Beach.

We went in about 30 minutes before kickoff. Almost no line. Maybe it’s a matter of people just planning to give it a little extra time?

Parking: unmitigated disaster. As soon as the Iowa Central softball team is manning the lots open them. This "line up 30 minutes before but no sooner" is ********. (And I say that as someone who had zero issues and was the first car in our lot).

Iowa State screwed the pooch with the new parking lot design. There are approximately 20 spots in D4 that are worthwhile for tailgating. The rest are SIGNIFICANT downgrades.

Data: 100% improvement. Well done, AD.

Tickets: tweak this week but if it doesn't work worth a **** next weekend you need to pivot for 9/23.

I wonder how many of these issues were caused by heat however. Are the ticket devices tested in those conditions to make certain it can still function even in direct sun? They'll certainly be able to see if there was a rush at the gate later than normal due to people not wanting to be in the heat of the stadium.

Unfortunately the crappy parking lot design is what it is and there's nothing that can be done to fix it. Fortunately at least in our lot they weren't enforcing the fire lane.

What gate? Because that is not what I experienced. Sounds like backups at several gates and the North gate had a huge backup.
