I don't think there is any question about that. It's about having a culture where you take the rivalry game EXTREMELY SERIOUSLY. McCarney learned from Hayden, winning the instate game is a huge deal. Once McCarney beat Iowa in 1998, that was it, his Cyclone teams were always up for this game. Even in loses in Iowa City in 2004 and 2006 they played like they freakin wanted it. For once, in Ames, I would love to watch a Campbell coached team come out and play with their hair on fire like we did in 2005. Our crowd and team smelled blood, even before the kick off, you could just feel it. We competed well in 2017 on offense, but we do not have anywhere near the offensive skill talent of Butler, Park and Montgomery. Since then, it has been a sh#t on offense and special teams against Iowa. And you can also tell the Iowa program plays this game like it is their Super Bowl, though their fans will never admit that.
