Elephant in the room, maybe CMC is a good recruiter and a below average in game coach. Love the guy, but some tough questions need to be addressed.
Our recruiting has been lower half of the conference. Better than the worst as CPR had taken us, but let’s not act like we can beat teams by having superior talent.

Not at all I’m saying. CMC has multiple NFL top tier players. And he has nothing to show for it. We all laugh at Fran, but CMC (in those terms) is pretty much the same.

Is it obvious? No one wants to besmirch CMC for all that he’s done, you barely ever hear someone question him.
Objectively, ISU is still (real or perceived) a second fiddle P5 school in a low population state with relatively low NIL participation compared to peers.

Maybe CMC is the devil we know, and it sucks that we have squandered all that momentum we had in 2020 when we won the Fiesta Bowl.

4 years ago we just wanted Matt to win 6-8 games a year. Now that seems like overachieving.

We’ve had better talent than at any point in the history of the program and that’s really not debatable.

We’ve had more success than any point in my lifetime and that’s not debatable.

Everybody has weaknesses. IMO for Campbell it’s game management stuff. Doesn’t mean I’m not very happy with him.

I don't know how many more Saturday's I'm going to take 4 hours to watch this. It's not fun.

Yeah I really, really hate to say it, but I feel the same way. I will plan other activities from here on out, except the Texas game (which I'm going to). Probably listen on the radio or just gamecast while doing something else.

It's the combination of gross, un-entertaining style, lack of talent, and ultimately losses. I could get behind TJ when he had the basketball team playing disgusting ball, but he actually won games.

Seek help. Just making the fiesta bowl is an accomplishment that far outstrips anything Fran has done.

Not a popular opinion, but Hayden Fry was a good ******* football coach. If I were a coach in this state I’d probably take the lead from him whether that’s at Iowa or ISU.
It’s a different era my friend. ISU seems safe for now in the new Big 12 (16), but we’re not going to be a premier program with Hayden Fry approaches.

As someone who has spent the vast majority of their adult life outside Iowa, I don't really get bent out of shape about losing to them. For me, the fun with a coach runs out when you see them hit their ceiling and refuse to change. That's what I'm taking away from this game. In sports, you lose. But if you're not willing to consider that there might be alternatives to what you're doing when you lose, what's the point?
I think Kohl is the future. Just isn't ready yet
Disagree. Moberly is light years better.

Ya we’re safe in the money game. I’d still like to go to bowl games though.
Everyone focuses on bowl games. I‘d love to see a program that goes for broke (I think that’s a saying). Is a 6-7 season w/ a bowl loss really satisfying? Eff that mediocre ****. Play for wins, take risks, let your playmakers make plays, build a winning program that wants a conference win and nothing less. Do that and playoff chances will happen. It’s nearly impossible to make that happen at ISU, but it doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be your goal. Play to win, that’s the only thing that matters. Improving game over game or rebuilding is ******** in year 8.

He’s not a killer instinct guy. He’s a control guy that wants to win every game by 1 point - that would be the ultimate culture and control and winning the margins play.
Exactly. That's why we only did runs and pints the second half against uni. Most teams would be trying to getting things figured out on offense.

He's said a million times that it isn't about wins and losses. He definitely doesn't have a killer instinct.

He quit in this game a few years ago by benching Purdy late in the 3rd qtr and putting Dekkers in when the game wasn't out of hand yet. And he quit again today too, no matter what he says. He wasn't trying to win the game by going on an 8 min drive as slow as molasses. It was exactly what KF wanted. He got absolutely schooled again in this game.
100% agreed unfortunately. That entire drive ending in a TD was absolutely maddening

I'm excited to see how we hang in the Big12.

Yeah me to, I'm guessing our defense will keep us in most games maybe we can generate enough offense to get some Ws. If we win at Ohio we only need 4 more to have a 6 win season. Not great but not terrible by ISU standards.
