With general anesthesia, it's not uncommon to feel awake for a while then "crash" into sleep or exhaustion; it affects some people more than others. Better to not risk your safety or that of others.

Prepping for another one and thought this thread could use another resurrection.

I'm way overdue. I should just bite the bullet but I keep finding lame reasons to not get it scheduled.
Man up!! I’ve had too many people around me that were diagnosed with it. I made my appointment before I turned 50. My wife was floored when I told her I made it. I didn’t need to make excuses, after seeing friends with stage 4 colon cancer. It was painless. Just power through the prep stuff! You can do it!! My next one is 1.5 years out.

Lost my brother in July. After 5 years in remission 2nd bout of treatment lead to heart failure prior to the cancer getting him. Can't stress enough how important it is to stay on top of this.

The not eating thing is such a mind game. Last year when I was on the feeding tube for 2 months I could have easily went multiple days without being hungry. Now it seems like such a big deal to not eat for a day.

This was 10 years ago.
I’ve done about 14 colonoscopies since and they find stuff every time. All benign so far but I’ll eventually go the every 6 month track and then probably every 3 months eventually.
I’ve gotten used to the prep and load up a TV in the bathroom whenever I need to do it lol
I've had 2 colonoscopies at the normal recommended times determined by age. Had to drink a gallon of the gunk both times which was a challenge. Did my 3rd test using cologuard which was a nice change. Mentioned to a friend that recently cologuard had stopped running TV commercials and he said that they had a lot of false positive tests. I said they were probably overwhelmed with product daily and it was hard to retain and attract new employees. How would you like that job every day. all day? Not making light of the need for testing. Had my tests at 50, 60 and 70. Just research who and what hospital you use. Have had instances of friends getting infection from poor procedure cleanliness and one friend had a problem with a puncture. I stress that this is a test that is a no-brainer and a reward for living too long.
I just got off a feeding tube after 5-6 days. I never felt hungry at all.
The drinking a gallon of gunk routine has ended. I have two 6oz bottles that I have to drink 4 hours apart and that's it.
Cancer of the tongue. Had about half my tongue removed and rebuilt using the flesh from my wrist. Been out of the hospital for a week. Drinking lots of boost.
Cologuard is certainly a decent improvement but I personally can’t trust it or use it. As part of my volunteer work with the Colorectal Cancer Alliance, there’s a lot of mixed messages on it.
Someone like me who is very high risk it’s not even really an option and just doing the prep and getting it done is way more effective
