I'm 44 so my time is coming soon. I've had season tickets to ISU football for over 20 years so my anus is prepped.
44 here too, dreading the day the doc recommends the ole roto rooter. I will say though as a Cyclone fan my nuts have taken more of a beating over the years as the joke is to put on the nut cup on when a game is close. I've already had the snip procedure and other than the 2 moments when they do the snips that send pain up and down through your mid section briefly was not as bad as I anticipated.

I hate the doctors office in general. I get my flu shots and now days also stay current on my Covid shots for the sake of keeping my kids healthy too but I gotta be in a lot pain or really sick to make a trip to the local clinic for anything other than a physical exam or something that I know requires medical attention. I've walked around on a broken ankle for 10 days thinking it was a bad sprain before I saw a doctor and even the doctor thought it was just a bad sprain that was still healing based on how I was walking on it but and x-ray showed a complete break that required surgery. I had some seasonal allergies turn into temporary asthma that made walking stairs difficult one day that I went into a walk in clinic. I had to convince a doctor to prescribe something because they said I had no history of it but I wouldn't have made a visit if I didn't think something was wrong.

I'm not anti-vax but I also am skeptical at times about some things when it comes to a doctor I see once a year for a physical exam recommending certain things much like my car mechanic recommends "scheduled maintenance" base on the mileage of my car. You should know your body better than your doctor does and its a personal decision if you want to do every test in the book based on your age and history or if you want to pass on it because you want to live your life the way you want to. I like to live life in the moment and enjoy things as they happen.

If your goal is to eventually meet your maker you kind of have to accept your fate and not live your life in fear of the worst case scenario playing out. I've seen a family with 2 young girls lose their healthy looking mother to a brain tumor in her late 30's that there were no signs of until the aggressive tumor took over and they lost her in a matter of a week. I had just talked to her maybe a week before they found the tumor and she was her normal self and she died just a few days later after they operated on her. That's how quick life can be taken from us. I tell my wife that we can't live in fear as either us us could get into a traffic accident that takes our life on a given day.
