Similar situation here, but sounds like I like him more than you. My wife loves him. We saw him once at the Mark here in QC with Miranda Lambert, then my wife and daughter went to Des Moines to see him. My bride is also excited. She would stand in line all night to get tickets to see him I think. LOL.
Don't get me wrong, he puts on a good show, just not my type of music, sometimes you have to take one for the team, so I go so my wife can have fun and enjoy the show. More of a classic rock fan myself.

I remember my dad taking me and my brother when I was 9. We didn't have tickets so we just sat in the parking lot and listened.

It was AWESOME.

We got tickets in row EE (just calling in as one did then) which we figured would be WAY back in the cheap seats. NOPE. 13th row right side.

Great concert. Division Bell not their best stuff, but they did the classics and it was amazing.

Side note, there is a tribute band called "Brit Floyd" and they are actually really good. Musically amazing, really talented. Saw them in CR years ago and was quite pleasantly surprised. Although I must say using "In the Flesh" for an encore was unexpected.

Man if I would have been a couple years older I would have been there. I was checking out the set lists and yeah it looks like they went really heavy on the Division Bell and A Momentary Laps of Reason albums in set 1 but then played quite a bit of stuff from The Wall and Dark Side of the Moon in set 2. In total they played 25 songs!

We saw George a couple of times at Wells Fargo, my wife loves him, me, not so much. He does put on a good show, no theatrics, just gets up on stage and sings. He likes the stage in the middle, so he can go from corner to corner and sing to that side of the stadium. My wife was excited when I told her he was coming to Ames and she is looking forward to getting tickets.

I assume he's like Alan Jackson. Mosey up to the microphone. Sing a few numbers. Waive and call it a night.

25 songs averaging probably 9 minutes LOL. It was a good long concert iirc, and no opening act that I can recall.

No, not at all, he will sing a song or two in one corner of the stage, then walk over to the next corner and do the same, working his way around the stage. When finished he starts over making two or three complete tours around the stage when we saw him. Show is a couple hours long, people that like him are nuts, screaming, he puts on a good show, but like I said, just not my type of music.

Not a country guy and it's always hit or miss when scheduling outdoor concerts, but good for those that enjoy the music. Great to see a big-time concert coming to JTS or Hilton. I think the last big concert in hilton was Metallica/Godsmack or John Meyer, and that feels like ages ago.

Godsmack killed it. Dueling drums FTW.

This was post-Roger Waters Floyd also, so I don't feel quite as horrible about not going. My brother bought me a shirt and I wore that thing out.

They're amazing in concert. Had to book a ticket to their Omaha show since this is supposedly going to be their last studio album. They said they'll keep playing and touring, but currently no plans to ever write new music again.

Conversely, I thought Metallica was blah.

Regardless of personal opinions (I am a fan of this grouping) this is a very smart "know your target demographic in a 2.5 hour radius" move.
I'm 4 hours away and already have a group from IL getting excited to go!

I’ve been sitting on this for 2 months. Glad they finally announced it and glad to see JP coming around on stadiums being for events and not just athletics.
