I recognize that both for NIL and for other reasons we are going to struggle to compete talent-wise, and I don't discount that in terms of my assessing how Iowa State will do each season. Before the season I thought we would go 4-8 but show signs of improvement, and I was okay with that.
But it seems extremely obvious to me that if you have a talent gap, you should not try to play like a conservative pro team. We need to look at where on the field we have advantages offensively and exploit that. I have no idea why we are trying to be a power running offense when we do not have the talent for it. It will not work.
