The price tag for a new F150 or comparable Chevy will shock many people. It's very easy to add a few bells and whistles and move up from anything above an XLT version and you are mid 70's and up.
Has anyone purchased a new vehicle lately, the prices are off the wall.

Bought a Jeep Wrangler 4xe in May and love it. Goes 28 miles on battery which is perfect for around town driving.
No disadvantages except the gas mileage sucks (same for all Wranglers) and I wish the battery went about 20 miles more. I’ve done about 80% battery driving and 20% gas driving.
Part of the reason why we’re looking at plug in hybrids is that I’m going to have a 60 mile one way commute three days a week. So the battery would help for a little bit. Not sure if my new employer will have power stations. Outside of that, the battery will be sufficient for any errands we have around town.
There are some 35-50 mi range PHEVs you could look at. Although if you are doing this strictly for gas savings and your work doesn’t have an onsite charger, you likely are only saving a gallon of gas per commute and the savings probably isn’t worth the extra spend. But if you have other motives like reducing emissions and cleaning up your carbon footprint, it’s a solid move.
Also check the tax credits as they can vary per vehicle.
Keep in mind that the majority of the people that hate Tesla or even EVs in general have never even driven one. The performance and charging network of Tesla is in another league. In the future, that will change.
I’ve never driven one and am not an electric car fan but I just think Teslas are the nicer ones I’ve seen on the market. If I was to buy one I’d probably look there first.
Absolutely insane. The worst thing is they feel super cheap. If you want a huge SUV, get an Expedition or a Yukon/Tahoe and save yourself $15-$25k
I don't understand how people cut out companies on who are stockholders. I have no idea who is the larger stockerholders on most companies. I have a feeling that I would probably have to make everything myself if I did.

So you the know the CEO of every company you purchase stuff from? He's weird, but weird seems to be the creative people and get things accomplished. I didn't care for Jack Welch's style but I didn't say I was boycotting GE.
I had to think long and hard about buying my Kia because of their CEO SeungKyu Yoon and his views. Oh wait, no I didn't.
Plug-ins are awesome. Very, very few people wouldn't benefit from having one. We should've been making these things 10+ years ago.
When we were parked at the hotel this weekend, I noticed an Audi Q5 was plugged in. I loved that it had zero badging that is was a hybrid and the only way I could tell was that it had a fuel door on one side and a charger door on the other. I think it's obnoxious when companies like Toyota use dumb colors and tons of badging for their hybrids.
BTW-I'm not pimping the Q5, I don't know if it's any good.

There's also the fact that industry estimates have Tesla's current fleet estimated to have more recalls than all other cars. Their failure to deliver on promised features/upgrades. Their clear QC issues. And there are just as capable and forward looking companies elsewhere.

Yeah, the real question for me is would a plug in be better considering my commute, or just a fuel efficient hybrid? The plug in would be great for around town commute
