Sanders slide was bad, but what if he fumbled fighting for a first down?
Bacon should have grabbed a jersey and held on for dear life. 10 yard penalty<<TD.
The transfer QB might be useful for read-option, short yardage, wildcat. Becht is going to take a pounding vs OU.
Penalties are under control.
A lot of "almosts" in ST. Blocked punt, made FG, TD punt return.
There should be a 15 second delay after an offensive sub. If defense is not set by then, too bad for them.

Kinda what I thought watching the replay. Sliding so early was still not good, but better than going OB. It didn't look like there was enough room to get the first unless he was straight-up trucking a defender already coming full speed at him.

Do think you still have to cut back inside and finish the run there, but it was very likely to be 3rd down regardless.

First of all, what a relief. I think we showed today that we can beat some teams in the middle of the Big 12. Baylor, TCU, Cincinn, Kansas, BYU are winnable games I feel this year with that kind of offense.

Offensive Positives

• Jaylin Noel I owe a sincere apology, he was a massive difference maker. So sweet to see him gain confidence, get some yac and burn people. We used him the right way today! He is a good deep threat down the field. Longer post routes and go routes are in his wheelhouse.
• Daniel Jackson - where has this been? He looked pretty natural in running precise routes, catching the ball with ease, he looks like he can help the rest of the way
• The offense took a step forward today with Stevo Klotz, I think he makes a pretty big difference run blocking. Same can be said for offensive guard Brendan Black who played in simmon's old spot. In the second half our ground game looked quasi respectable.
• I think Eli Sanders, Sama, and occasional Carson Hanson need the RB snaps. Cartevious (i know he's injured) runs into piles and doesn't have enough speed in my opinion. Eli Sanders in particular brings some juice to the running game. We had about 75 yards rushing, we don't have to light roof on fire in this area but we have to be at least competent, which we were at times today.
• The running back pass to the flat HAS TO BE a part of what we do. If defenses stack the box we have to make them pay. The 20 yard running back pass to Sama was a thing of beauty.
• Rocco Becht: 3 TD, no picks and over 350 yards. We can win with this guy folks. He is accurate and a gamer to me. I'll say he is "Purdy-like", not saying as good as Purdy, but his game is similar.

Defense

- One sack by Singleton was a key play in the game I thought
- Ike Ezeoguo DE needs to play more in passing situations, he has a clear quick first step, and seems to get pressure better than Peterson or others. He looks great as a freshman
- Tampa with a huge pick to seal the game was fun to see.
- The hit by Cooper on their receiver in the 4th quarter was terrific, dude plays like he's shot out of a cannon.
- Defense got a little loose in second half but I thought played well most of the game. OSU always has talented guys at WR and RB, we were up to the task at the end

First of all, it was really nice to see ISU decide it was time to throw the ball down field for a change. It was also refreshing to see the WRs catch the passes that were to them. The drops in the Iowa game were painful.

I am completely frustrated with the OL running game blocking. Guys are not only being run around or past them, but on a lot of plays multiple OL are laying on the ground no where near the action. I really feel sorry for Sama, because for some reason the run blocking for him is even worse than that other running backs. Poor guys has 3 guys on him the second he gets the ball. Loved the pass to him out of the backfield last week.

Rocco has really improved since the first game. Much smoother, much better with the play fakes, much better at selling the play action stuff. Against Iowa he fake handoffs were not much more then looking in the direction of the running back.

Going to take a beating this week, but still like the improvements we saw. The gambling losses for this team were huge, and it wasn't like everyone was expecting ISU to compete for the Big 12 this year with those guys.

Need to watch for improvement in the team this year. That Ohio loss really sucked. A healthy ISU team would have probably won that one.

My TV got a real yelling at on that play. Just one of those WTF plays that ISU tends to have more then they should.

Most of us think ISU is a terrible team, so I can see where they are coming from. On the other hand ISU has beat them or scared the crap out of them a lot in the CMC era, so the Clones probably have their attention.

ISU mustered just 74 rushing yards on 2.2 yards per carry. But it replaced handoffs with short passes, and then the Cowboys’ depleted secondary made Rocco Brecht look like the second coming of Brock Purdy.

My thoughts:

• While OU's schedule so far hasn't been the greatest, it is still ahead of Michigan's who is number 2 in the country right now. Also, going on the road to Cincinnati, a prideful program with a former Florida quarterback, and keeping them from scoring a TD the entire game is impressive. They also held SMU's offense with a bunch of Dallas athletes on it to just 11 points.
• It is concerning that the OSU offense that only scored 7 points on South Alabama scored 27 points on our defense. Not to mention that OSU had over 400 yards of offense.
• It is a concern that we have not been able to run the ball well. The game against OU feels like a game where we will need to do both to have a chance to win, and the fact that we haven't been able to run on all four relatively-weak teams we have played is a major concern.

If you watch the games you’ll notice that muh of the pressure from our between the tackles-runs are coming from our tackles just letting defenders into the backfield. Simmons and Neal are probably 2 of the worst,,, offensive linemen in college football today. Removing them from the field can only be positive.
Speaking of removed from the field, no Dmitri Stanley was so nice to see as he is allergic to first downs and Rocco’s passing game looked so much better when there’s guys that wanna fight for every yard.

Sanders I think gives you the most but realistically I think if we even had breece hall our run game would still be horrible. I’m still super bullish on Sama

Unrelated to why this thread got bumped, but Ollie Gordon (OSU's running back) has been incredible starting with the Iowa State game. In each of those games, he's had at least 100 yards with his worst yards per carry at 5.8 vs. Kansas. In his last 3 games, he has had 284, 282, and 292 yards of offense. I'm curious why it took until the ISU game for him to become their primary RB.
