Outscored by 18 from 3 and 3 from the line…and have missed 11 free throws…that’s not a recipe to win a game. Early season! Fundamental shooting needs attention!
Yep. Not going to freak out after one loss and one poor half vs VCU. We're early in the season.
We've been spoiled by the last two years of non-con.

Quite honestly, a really concerning game. Shows the major holes in this team - butterfingers, no growth in FT or 3PT shooting from a year ago - which are things we thought/expected would be better. Sunday will be a huge test of whether the guys are going to accept the sloppiness of these last two games, or whether they are just a young team that had no clue what to expect when playing an opponent with a pulse. Regardless of Cattoor and Pedulla, we should have easily beaten this team. This can become the loss that actually benefits you more than a win long-term, but it should be a complete wake-up call to this program. You got beat soundly tonight by a team with less talent on the court than you.

Im not that worried about this team right now.

What I am worried about is the fact that our last shot at a good win before conference play is Sunday, and if we lose that game we won't have a Q1 win going into conference play. I do not want do be desperate for good wins going into conference play.

Do you think we score 60 against this team last year? I really don't. Not great offense... but still better than last year. Just look at any of the advanced metrics and they tell you that.

I think you are right but I think the offense is marginally better and not significantly better. Only a 2 game sample set against teams with a pulse but scoring 68 and 62 against two teams unlikely to be in the NCAA tournament is not an ideal start for this “revamped” offense.

We all gave TJ the benefit of the doubt his first two years and it doesn’t look like his offensive approach is any different. Time will tell but it’s Year 3 with much better offensive players, so it’s time to see improvement offensively.

I was hoping for 2-1 for this tourney but 1-2 may be the reality.

The rest of the non-con just got way more interesting.

Tough loss but this won't ruin Iowa State's tournament resume. Some issues to work on but another opportunity on Sunday for a good win. Make free throws and it's a close game so I don't think there's any reason to freak out just need to adjust to higher levels of competition. Now I'm going to run away from this site for a while.
