Gus Johnson is so hard to listen to.
He has one mode, yelling, all game. If you only listened to the sound I don't think anyone could tell me the difference between Gus calling a game winning hail mary vs a 20 yard pass in the 2nd quarter.
I used to like him early on when his reactions seemed more genuine, but it feels so fake now. Not every play is the most exciting play in human history, but you'd think so listening to Gus.
I don't think he's the worst but used to like him and he's just kind of reached cartoon of himself level. Laying it on extra strong today.

I guess I prefer an announcer who is excited rather than someone who is monotone
There's a middle ground between the two extremes. He's way over the top.
He sounds like beginning radio announcers who think they need to make even PSAs sound exciting.
Like a Division 3 student announcer on the college's TV station.
I used to love watching his games. Especially with Klatt. But he really has sold out.
This is where I am. Yeah he can be over the top but I'd prefer someone who's more up. And it helps having Klatt there to provide the calmer voice of reason.
Michigan is gonna pound Iowa into the ground. I hope it's like 30 point plus differential
