But they werent the best in their conference?
Yeah but they were pretty clearly a top team that deserves a shot, that’s why I’m happy to see the playoff expansion. I mean we saw the championship game and that was slightly more lopsided then OSU missing a FG as time expired to lose. Michigan has built itself to beat OSU, they are not capable of beating georgia, OSU isn’t good this year and 100% doesn’t deserve a spot but last year I thought they did.

Nebraska made the national championship game after getting boat raced in their last regular season game of the year and didn't even win their division.

Alabama won the national championship without even winning their division.

Just in case anyone would like to relive that glorious afternoon in which Colorado officially broke Nebraska football, here it is.

I like to post this about 5 times a year in pretty much any thread where it's relevant.

Who would you put as the top teams right now?

I will list mine,

1. Georgia (defending champs, champs until you lose)

2. Texas, they are improving every week and don't have much for weaknesses.

3. Michigan, (haven't seen them much, but I believe they are better than number 4)

4. Washington, undefeated, but I wasn't highly impressed in the little I saw.

5. FSU, they are undefeated so I have to put them here, I have not seen them at all, so this is a placing by record.

Listed 5 incase one slips, the 5th would get in.

I don’t have FSU in the top ten without their QB, they are going to be double digit underdogs if they make the playoffs regardless of who they play.

Georgia, big drop off, michiagn, Oregon, texas is currently what I have. Most likely will be Georgia vs Michigan and Georgia gets the third in a row

When you talk about deserving a shot, I would say your shot is the 12 regular season games on your schedule and your CCG. If you take care of business there you move on to the finals. If not, you blew your shot.

This year the loser of OU and UW may be one of the top 4 teams in the country. But ultimately if we are trying to prove who is best, those two teams will have met on a neutral field in the CCG to sort themselves out. I want to see another team from another league shoot their shot.

With the new giant conferences it'd almost make more sense to have the 4 power conferences all have a semis and championship and send their champions to a top 4 playoff of only champions. It'd essentially be a 16 team playoff with the first 2 rounds in-conference.

This is closer to happening than what you think. Take the Big 10. Two semi-final round games in the Midwest domes/indoor venues (Minneapolis,Detroit or Indy) then the championship game played in the Rose Bowl in early December. When the Big 10 expands to 20 or more this is something that could happen.

They won't leave an undefeated P5 champ out though.

Oregon I can't put up there. They lost to Washington and had a tight game with Texas tech, which is a very mediocre team.

Just read that Michigan State hired new coach and all 3 of their scholarship QBs have entered the portal. Maybe he can talk one of them out of it. Sounds terrible, but with their record, maybe a complete new start isn't such a bad thing. I guess this is just how things are going to work with NIL and the portal. There are what, maybe 3 or 4 programs that are fairly immune. But for everyone else, it's a free-for-all.

Same could be said for Bama with South Florida (6-6) and Arkansas (4-8).

I won't count the Iron Bowl because rivalries are weird.

Texas lost to an inferior team in OU and barley beat TCU which is a very mediocre team. I’m also basing this off Oregon beating Washington this weekend.

I agree with this but not having your starting QB is huge. I don’t think they would leave them out but it’s going to be talked about. I also don’t know if they can with their last game without him anyways.

Bit of a loss with two of them being 4 star QB’s but the third who started this season is trash that belongs in a G5 program. Hauser might be talked back as he’s not getting a starting job anywhere but levitt hates the new coach from getting passed over in recruitment.

However he was passed over for Oregon States top 100 QB that most believe will be coming with the coach so not a total loss if that plays out. If it doesn’t then gonna have to raid the portal.

Oregon outside of their one loss has been super dominant over about anyone else including some very nice teams in the Pac 12. USC hung around a bit but that was their last ditch effort and Oregon still took care of business.

Don't know how long he has been out, I openly admit I know nothing of FSU except they are undefeated; but TCU lost theirs last year.

He has been only out for this game against a horrible Florida game that they struggled with. They could still win the championship game but they are a very very mediocre ACC team without him. Whoever gets them in a playoff has an easy win

The playoff committee has never had to consider this many teams this late into the season. Typically you get to this weekend and 5 or 6 have a chance. This year you can draw up scenarios where 8 teams would have a possibility. It's a shame Barta's time with the committee is over I'd like to see him deliver the 4 for the comedy in a chaos situation.
