I've got the ultimate one-hit wonder and a great trivia question. It's the only song to ever be a one-hit wonder three different times in three different years, 1980, 1989 and 2019. "Into the Night" first came out in 1980 when it hit No. 11, and then when a deejay noted for playing oldies brought it back in 1989, it charted again, peaking at No. 20. In 2019, it charted once again after a new arrangement made it into a dance record.

Here's Benny Mardones with the creepy, stalkerish "Into the Night."

I thought this group was going to hit it big when this song came out but they literally broke up the band after 1 album. VH1 has this song ranked #11 on their 1 hit wonders of the 90's. Pretty good list of songs on there: VH1’s 40 Greatest One-Hit Wonders of the ’90s | (toponehitwonders.com)

Another 1 hit wonder from the 90's:

Would consider Creed a 1 hit wonder. Scott Stapp being a huge DB basically wrecked any momentum they had once they hit it big

God bless your soul. That New Radicals song has escaped me and has me taking a time warp back into my early teens

They did well on the alternative charts in the US

I shouldn't imply Oasis was an unknown in the U.S. -- their albums always did well.

But for some reason the U.S. Billboard charts just did not like them...

Banging out #1 after #1 in Europe and outside of "Wonderwall" nada in the U.S. is weird.

Sure. Lyrically there are some issues.

But Benny absolutely sings from the soul of his shoes to heaven above closong this out.

Yeah, its definitely a bit surprising in both directions.

Like, I saw your post and was like "no way I heard them all the time in the 90s", but back then I would have mostly been listening to the alternative station here (107.5 the dot)

Currently going down a 90s rabbit hole. Man, Sugar Ray had some serious bangers.
