49ers - Brock Purdy - Still and Always #1

His coaching is better and in the pros he can invest all his time at his craft as opposed to college. But you can’t discount learning from his mistakes in college. Throwing mechanics didn’t cause him to fumble late in the first half of the 2019 Iowa game, or fumble for the scoop and score at the end of the first half at OU in 2021, or bat the ball forward that got returned for a pick 6 by Clemson in the bowl game. Those are just 3 examples of shortcomings in decisions and ball security that were critical mistakes in 1 score losses. So far Brock has almost entirely avoided mistakes like that in his 20 or so NFL games.

He’ll eventually get bit with a couple more of those this year. He still does that stuff and it’s honestly cost him less than it could have this year (several massive mistakes where he should just go down and didn’t and stuff) but comes with Brock just being Brock. The play is never over with the guy and that’s also what makes him great.

He’ll eventually get bit with a couple more of those this year. He has said he feels he can trust his teammates so he doesn't have to carry the responsibility of winning the game, He can just execute his part of it. I think that has made a significant difference as well.
