There were some real bad takes not just on here, but there was a lot of pod talk from "people around the program" suggesting the offense would've been better with Dekkers. A lot of it was pretty innocent stuff like the arm strength opening up a few options in the playbook.Goes to show even us ISU fans aren’t immune to the “cannon arm = great qb” fallacy.
Goodwill. Right next to the Hok merchandise. It looks like something off the KMart clearance rack
There weren't just "bad takes" on here. Nobody thought what Purdy is doing was possible, including people who make a lot of money to evaluate QB talent. There were some real bad takes not just on here, but there was a lot of pod talk from "people around the program" suggesting the offense would've been better with Dekkers. But it's the same old thing - people caring about arm strength way too much. We still had people on here calling for Kohl. Once Rocco figures out how to settle down, put some air under the ball and not overshoot guys when they get wide open down the field, he's going to be great.
Purdy has enough arm strength, is accurate, makes the right read almost every time and gets the ball out on time. Yes, it's a great roster, and a great coach. But Brock isn't just playing well. He's off to statistically the greatest start arguably of any QB. Ever. This isn't college where you can have massive talent advantages at every position most games like an Alabama, Texas or Ohio State. The differences between the best and below average rosters in the NFL are still very slim. There is no NFL system that elevate an average QB to what Purdy is doing.
Teams try to take away what you're best at. Then if you make the play anyway, hat's off to you. With Brock, the 49ers are good at whatever is available. Brock has been able to make the right read and get the ball out on time. I thought at ISU he held the ball too long. I don't know whether it was coaching, scheme or just development. Rocco is great at getting the ball out of his hand.I think it just shows confidence in what they are doing. It's probably not a secret to the rest of the league what they are doing on offense, they just can't stop it because they've got great play makers and Brock consistently making the right reads. Pretty tough to stop even if you know what's coming.

I think most fashion houses make most of their money off of like perfume and sunglasses, and purses that upper middle class people trying to get a taste of upper class life can afford. The clothes are essentially gaudy billboards for that.Agree... I usually don't understand what fashion houses are thinking when they make clothing.
Brock could have been paid to wear that, now that you say that.I think most fashion houses make most of their money off of like perfume and sunglasses, and purses that upper middle class people trying to get a taste of upper class life can afford. I'm not talking about his NFL prospects. I don't see how anyone could've predicted this. There weren't just "bad takes" on here. Nobody thought what Purdy is doing was possible, including people who make a lot of money to evaluate QB talent.
Oh I'm sure Purdy won't get MVP unless he gets a ring. And he still might not get it even if he does get a ring. Not sure he will win it unless he gets a ring. Playing well though.
Tough to do since the MVP is given out before the Super Bowl.Oh I'm sure Purdy won't get MVP unless he gets a ring. And he still might not get it even if he does get a ring.
There's never been another NFL QB who has faced as much negative bias as Purdy.
Also too what folks are conveniently leaving out is - Brock has greatly improved his arm strength, mechanics, and footwork since he has been at Iowa State. The biggest 'leaps' in his entire post-high school career came in the 3 - 8 months immediately after leaving Iowa, and he continues to get better and better. He's also stronger and faster/quicker than he's ever been. There weren't just "bad takes" on here. Great points. I go back in time to how I was in college compared to working in the real world. We mature as we age, and we learn from experiences to grow in our profession. We focus on weaknesses to turn them into strengths. We learn lessons along the way that set us on a path to do better next time. That’s life. Also too what folks are conveniently leaving out is - Brock has greatly improved his arm strength, mechanics, and footwork since he has been at Iowa State. Huge credit goes to Brock for the dedication and time and hard work he's put in (post-college) to improve his skills, his foundation, the way he approaches the game mentally, etc.
And none of that discredits what he did at Iowa State, although I am sure some will take offense for some reason.
