The WRs are still running the wrong routes as well. MVS would have had a TD if he would have done what he was supposed to on a play and Moore just stopped for some reason on his route which led to the INt.
Probably because he never gets targeted and is just going through the motions at this point.

I think Moore is getting too much blame for that interception. That play was never open and shouldn't of been thrown. Other than that play Moore and the wr's collectively deserve all the criticism they receive along with anyone who made the decision that this was going to be the group

All leagues protect the stars of the league, and the NFL is no different, QB's like Mahomes, Brady and others are going to be protected more than younger players or those not as good. It may not be fair, but the league understands the value of having those players on the field and playing as opposed to injured and on the sidelines.
Totally understand, but all stars, particularly Mahomes with this rule look to stretch those advantages as much as possible.

It’s not as egregious as the fake slide, but it’s similar, taking an angle toward the sideline, but if the guy lets up, spin out of that contact for more yards.

I’m a KC guy and have rooted for Chiefs in my time here since ‘06/08. It’s simply what happens.

But in that particular game situation it would have been stupid for Mahomes to try to get maybe another yard or two and risk not actually getting out of bounds. If the defender was worried that Mahomes may spin out of it, then maybe he should have kept his position to actually tackle and not turn his body trying to lay the boom on Mahomes.

Well he stopped on the route so not sure how it isn’t his fault. Then he didn’t even appear to know which way to turn

He did stop I think that's accurate but I don't think he anticipated it being thrown and I know you don't coach wrs to ever stop but that play wasn't open. At best it was a 1 on 1 play with sky moore in the middle of field on a 1st and 10.

You really sound like a disgruntled Hawkeye fan..........I'm embarrassed for you on this take. They should have won more than 2 superbowls with those quarterbacks, for sure. But they are a great franchise and at-least put themselves in position to compete. I'm really embarassed for your take.
Imagine coming to a thread about one team, and then proceed to talk about your own team, and I'm the one appearing like a hawkeye fan? Lol

Yes, Moore stopped his route, but I got the feeling that Mahomes was expecting Moore to look towards that outside, away from the defender and throw it there, while Moore slowed down and looked to the inside. In the news conference, Mahomes said he should have thrown it back shoulder more, but I got the feeling he was covering for Moore.

All season long Mahomes is throwing to the spot to protect the receiver, and for some reason, they either stop or slow down their route, or look back into the middle of the field, instead of where Mahomes is throwing to keep them from taking a hit.

Well that just isnt the case. He knew the ball was coming his way. My guess is he got confused on what he was supposed to be doing. If you notice he also wasn't sure which way to turn. In the post game Mahomes said specifically that he signaled to Moore to change his route because of the coverage. And this is not the first time that Moore has had issues. He has had several. One of the big reasons he didn't see the field last year was because of his struggles in picking up the offense.

FWIW, I’m not trying to make the case that was a bad call, only saw the play once in a highlight.

More broadly, feel for defenses that are put in a no win situation at the sideline.

If they let up, they get burnt for add’l yards. If they hit, qb looks for a flag (as he did the previous week).

It’s gamesmanship. Which is legal, just is what it is.

I haven't been impressed with Chris Jones this year. He hasn't been super disruptive this year that I noticed. Their defensive ends haven't been much for a pass rush either. Karlafkis is OK, but hasn't really put up pressure/sack numbers and I don't think King Felix has barley played this year for a first round pick. Maybe this is some of the reason Jones doesn't look as good, but I personally don't feel he is worth the money he is going to command, so maybe a trade would be best.
He's constantly doubled. Sometimes tripled. Even if his numbers haven't been great he has been a pain in the ass to prepare for.

I would cut Toney after this game. He has cost them two games and hasn’t been healthy most of it anyway.
