But it really is an exhibition game. The game is a reward to players for having a good year. Coaches want to win because their contracts typically have an incentive clause for bowl wins. The game gives fans the opportunity to take a small vacation to watch the team play one more game for the season.

A team’s success or failure for the following year has no merit on the outcome of a mid level bowl game. But a NY6 game can be meaningful
We were outed by a better team this night. That's FB. Next year we will tee it all up again.

I would like to remind fans of the highs we have had recently, under Campbell. Iowa State is just not going to win all of their games. It would take an amazing couple of classes.

I'm not happy about tonight. Losing is never fun. I am happy with our players, coaches and effort, this year. If you are not, think about it some more. It's never as low or as high as it seems.

Disappointing thing to me is Memphis looked like the better players overall. Those 40 - 50 rated recruiting classes are what they are. Hopefully being young will pay dividends next year.

Well, game sucked and weather was terrible. Sad showing from both fan bases in the stadium. Hopefully we don't ever get that matchup again. Still having a good time in Memphis.

The fan showing was predictable. It’s the exact same game as a few years in a location that ISU has been to 3 times in 11 years.

No more Liberty Bowl for a long while IMO. The Big 12 needs to be more creative. WVU getting the Mayo Bowl is a great start. Better bowls and place teams for best possible matchup (just like the SEC)

Heacock has been good but he has been stubborn and stayed in a 3 man front. Zero pressure on the qb and running teams gashing us. A system is good unless that’s not your personnel strength. Our linebackers are young and not as talented as years past. Can they get there? I surely hope so.
Our linebackers are bad right now.

Memphis they just said on the post game was 100th nationally against the rush and we got ZERO YARDS.
Our offensive line has to be the worst in the nation. I mean start looking at D2 level bad. We made one of the worst teams in the nation against the run look like world beaters. I am trying to figure out how we could be this bad at line play. As soon as the ball is snapped, we have at least one guy chasing a defensive player towards our running back or QB.

I still think it has to do with the wrist band ********. I get it for receivers and backs to know the route, but I think we need to dumb it down on the line to the basics. "If you see a guy in front of you, block him. If no guy is in front of you, look to the first guy inside of you and block him."

Our intermediate guys on those 3rd and long plays did an absolutely terrible job. Not even remotely close to enough depth making an easy throw and catch for a first down that a mediocre HS QB and WR could make.

The football IQ on this defense looked super low today. And holy cow, DBs how about competing to get off blocks a bit?

There was just some very poor execution and discipline on the field today. Poor lane discipline at the DE and LB positions in particular, and the OL was lost on very simple stunts that high school teams figure out.

After 8 years I expect more. Youth or not. Gambling or not. This cannot continue. Jaimie has to look at this and wonder why ISU continues to be a bottom feeder. Even with Texas and OK gone, we have little to no chance to become a perennial favorite. UTAH, BYU, Arizona and even KU will eat our lunch. Not to mention Colorado. I no longer arrange my schedule to watch ISU football.

Finishing 4th in the Big 12 makes you a bottom feeder, I wonder if your expectations are out of whack?
