He was a McDonalds All American, 5 star recruit, on U19 Team USA. Any of his peers not playing on their Teams?

It's all good that ISU is winning, but I understand why people thought Omaha would be playing. Expectation was that he would be one of the best players on the Team. Would ISU not be better if he actually was better than Tre King? That's the depressing part. The thought was a recruit like that raises Teams ceiling. And he was talked about as a one year player not a development. I would say for me it's more confusing then depressing, but I get it.

This is some pretty sad and twisted stuff.

All of us figured Omaha would be contributing, but it’s obviously not happening this season. Hope he can improve his game in the off season.

Actually, he still is an McD AA.

Look at this way - We thought this team might be good since we expected one of this years recruiting class come in and make an immediate impact.

Which is exactly what is happening, just a different freshman making than impact than people thought.

Some recruits get it sooner than others. Hard to predict which ones.

Thompson for OSU was an 5* for Kansas. a few years later he is meh player for OSU.

Dailey for OSU played with Omaha on the FIBA team. Yea, he played tonight but if OSU has King and Ward, he doesn't play either.

Cool...maybe people should let things play out instead of assuming it's automatic.

And are people actually...depressed about it?

'Hey man, you OK?'

'I'm ok. Just really upset that Omaha's not playing. He was a McD's All American, after all'.

'Who? And they still have that McD's thing?'

Would we be better if he was better than a current starter? Well yeah. Is it a realistic expectation for a true freshman to come in and be better than a grown ass man that's one of the oldest players in the conference? Hell no, especially for a post player. I feel like you haven't been paying attention to college basketball over the last decade if that's your expectation.

Remember the recruiting class with Wigginton?

Agree with recruiting is hard to predict

I am just confused why people keep acting like it is strange for fans to be disappointed. People believed the hype. There was talk this summer about him starting I believe

I don't know how many believed the hype.

I was very interested and hopeful to see what he could do. I guess if you want the mantle piece/trophy player and that is the focus then it could be disappointing.

I think what the newcomers are delivering for this team exceeds at least my expectations, so can't say I am disappointed.

And I don't feel to bad for Omaha yet. 18 year old on a top 20 team that make still may millions in NBA some day. His story is just starting, not over.

Well F!!! I am snowed in. I got about a mile down the gravel road and got stuck in a huge drift. Had to had the neighbor bring his end loader to pull me out. Then I tried the 3 other directions and all drifted too.

Pretty f-ing pissed

So, why didn't you take the end loader? I was looking for you.

Great win by the team tonight, nice for TJ to get the W over OSU, a nice sized crowd given the weather. I was surprised how easily we drove the lane the entire game. I like the way Ward can get above the rim. Well onto the BYU road trip.

I had no expectations as never saw him play before. Maybe I miss read, but thought there was threads here that suggested he would start. SI article from May'23 says he was potential lottery pick this year. And I don't watch much basketball outside of ISU, but think Karaban started last year on UCONN and just looked up he was a 4 star recruit.

Your first statement was my point really.

I hope that Omaha keeps grinding as we lose BRE King and Ward so there are minutes for him next year if he puts in the work to earn them. He just has not played well enough to earn minutes in the rotation right now. The goal is to win games and right now the team is winning games without him playing. If he were to transfer if he can't crack the rotation of a good P5 program where would he get that opportunity.

And Hali was a 3 star.

Things don't always align with ratings.

I think there were definitely thoughts of that.

But pretty much as soon as the team got into practice we started seeing doubts thrown on that from the people who would know.
