this is a must win sort of tomorrow in the fact it’s a game we should win and the fact that winning would really follow up the TCU win nicely. However the team showed something extremely valuable Saturday in the fact they can pull together without one of their leaders and be effective. Because of this there may not be a rush to get him back.

Also KU is coming to town and it’s a long season. Saturday was an example of the Patrick Ewing theory coming to fruition. For the youngsters look that up

Here's link to the Bill Simmons column.

Are we talking about Lipsey in this context? Because I don't think I agree with this: "but, crucially, never leads his teams to any meaningful success"

No I was talking in the context of our best player goes down and the guys rally around themselves to achieve something unexpected. Another example was beating North Carolina without Georges.

Even with Lipsey beating TCU down there was a bit of a long shot. But without guys dug deep and got it done

And then it's tough to do it two games in a row.

There will be film/scouting on the guys that did step up so it's more of an uphill battle.

Otoh it was a great learning experience for them with some good time to work on what didn't go well.

Given the importance of the QB to an NFL team, this one sticks out the most for me:

9. St. Louis Rams, 1999: Starting QB Trent Green tears an ACL during the preseason. Given up for dead, the Rams rally behind former Arena League football star Kurt Warner and win the Super Bowl, which might be the most unbelievable thing that ever happened..

Amazing prediction

"Currently, who are some possible Ewing Theory candidates? All right, I'll bite. Remember, we're targeting stars on teams that haven't won anything, as well as teams that would probably be written off without the stars we're about to mention:
