What I find funny is that it really doesn't matter if Purdy is a system QB or not - he's perfect for what they need and he's winning. They need a game manager that can get the ball in the hands of all their talent, make good decisions, show poise, and be consistent. He's doing that really well. Anything else is just BS talk.
Would Purdy look or do the same with the Packers? Don't know and don't really care, he's with the 49ers. Would Justin Fields look or do the same with the 49ers? I don't give a ****, he's not with them and is about to be replaced by a rookie.
Here’s the thing: talk to just about any successful NFL QB and they’ll tell you that EVERY NFL QB is a “system QB”.
Yes, QB is usually the most important position in football, and yes, finding the right QB can and will change the fate of an entire franchise, but football is a team game. Adding the “right QB” won’t matter much immediately unless the other pieces are already in place. And before anyone says “C.J. Stroud”, the Texans drafted a LOT of the right pieces with what was probably an all-time draft in 2023 for them.
Not to mention how many teams have won a Super Bowl without having the “right QB” in place?
