Checking out Texas message boards for amusement. The Shorthorn faithful think they have diagnosed Tyreses’ problem. “Texas is too big for him.” Bwaaahaaabwaaahaaahaaaaaa.
This is so perfect. With Texas, it's never a Texas problem.

I saw where a Kansas State fan called us Hilton merchants. I guess I didn’t realize being 2-3 on the road so far is considered bad (0.1 seconds from being 3-2) They likely don’t understand how Big 12 basketball works.
Says a fan of a team that has a four game losing streak on the road and their resume includes a 20 point loss at home.
EDIT:also a 16 point loss at home to Nebby.

College basketball in general.

Conference season is hard, away conference games are really hard.

What does that even mean?

Good to know they won't count the win if they beat us at their place though.

UT was ranked No. 18 preseason. After last night, they have six conference losses. Only Oklahoma State has more losses than the Shorthorns. Rodney Terry for coach of the year /sarc/. Horns Down Forever.
Not sure if the SEC is ready for them.

I will make watching Rick Barnes own them some appointment TV.

I like to think Hunter would have patched some of the holes in his game had he stayed in Ames and (1.) bought into the scrappy little nobody/island of misfit toys that end up being way more than the sum of their parts mentality that TJ seems to instill in the team and (2.) has better coaching up here.

Texas paid what they did for Hunter for a reason. He has good defensive instincts and lateral quickness. When he's focused, he's an elite on-ball defender. And he flashed elite offensive production during a few games his freshman year (the most notable one being LSU, which got him that Texas check).

He hasn't really changed is the thing. He still can't shoot and turns it over way too much. And the Cyclones got a couple easy buckets off him losing concentration away from the ball and ending up the victim of a strong backdoor cut. He did have seven assists, but he also had three bad turnovers.

In the end we're fine. Lipsey and Gilbert are better. But imagine if you were developing like those two are, Tyrese, instead of stagnating in a program in turmoil that never seems to figure it out.

Just saw a story on Burnt Orange Nation that made me chuckle. Texas has been coronated as being the SEC favorite for years to come in football. I don't know if they will win or won't win. We'll wait that one out. BUT, according to Wikipedia, in the last 50 years, Texas has won back to back conference championships outright once and even that comes with an asterisk because it included the last year of the SWC which was without Arkansas. In the last 50 years, they failed to win a conference championship nearly 90 percent of the time. Horns down forever.

My favorite thing to look at is how many more shots we get than our opponents. Often the shooting percentages are pretty similar, but we get up 12 or 15 more shots. That's huge.
I was curious, so I just looked.

ISU vs opponents

Made field goals: 622 to 455
Attempted FG: 1308 to 1132

So we make 7.59 more field goals than our opponent per game, and attempt 8 more per game. Surprised those numbers are so close.

hunter has done that in games before, he just goes cold. Remember what he did in Ames with Texas that game, with a lot of opposition in his face, and the whole crowd against him. He brought a lot on himself, but I still like the guy. LSU game, anyone?
I like him, after watching him live I question how good of shape he's in too.
