Surely they mentioned an Iowa state game had more viewers than Iowa’s mbb and wbb combined just 6 days ago ;)??

Also were they comparing both men’s programs or just Iowa states? My apologies for all the questions, I didn’t listen.

Nationally, sure.

Locally, maybe not so much. The only recent comparison would be ISU/KU men last Saturday on CBS and Iowa/Ohio St. women the previous Sunday on NBC. The ISU men drew slightly more households in the central Iowa market.

Is it impressive that a women's basketball game was that close to one of the ISU men's premier matchups? Absolutely. Is is a perfect apples to apples comparison? Maybe not. Does it represent each team's full fanbase statewide? Probably not.

They were just talking about iowa wbb vs isu mbb ratings tomorrow. Iowa wbb are on fox national where isu is on espn2 so they figure because of that iowa wbb would draw more.

I could maybe see is ISU was facing ucf but in isu baylor you have a quality top 25 matchup. Iowa wbb is facing a very mediocre by their standards Maryland team.

Yesterday, when Eickholt was on M&C, he started a Clark circle-J with Trent and Ken, and said that last year there was more interest nationally in the women’s NCAA tournament than the men’s tournament, and that it was solely because of Clark. Dude just pulls stuff out of his ass because he knows it will stick with the folks on that station.

There is no way I would put Stafford, Dak or Cousins above Purdy. Probably not Herbert either. I don't think it’s a stretch at all to put Brock in the top 5-6. His stats and film breakdown support that. The kid can play.
Put Purdy on the Chargers, and Herbert on the 49ers........which team gets better?

Name 12 better than Brock.
Man even Skip Bayless said he’s absolutely a top 10 QB in the league.
Glass? He played in 16 games each the prior 2 seasons, 10 his rookie year and even playing hurt this year he still played in 10 games. Played in 7 playoff games combined in 2021 and 2022. He had to have surgery on his throwing wrist, he's hardly been glass leading up to that.

Look I'm a big fan of Purdy and outside of the Chiefs who I have been a fan of forever our household basically has the 49ers as our second favorite team right now. That being said I'm looking at this with an unbiased eye as you are talking about a group of QB's there that have been in the league a lot longer than Brock has and have far more accomplishments so far. He's on the edge of the 2nd tier and a SB win probably puts him in that category for me but his body of work just isn't as experienced as those other guys yet so that's the main reason I put him in that 3rd tier. It's just my opinion. To say I "don't really know much about football" is just a lame attempt by you to discredit an opinion you don't agree with.
Burrow is damn good, but he is a little overrated built on his rep from playoff wins when his production has been nearly identical to that of Kirk Cousins. Those Bengals defenses were nothing great but absolutely balled out in the playoffs and won those games. Meanwhile Kirk’s defenses in his starts have been steaming dogcrap.

As for Allen, no QB got more wins with QBR under 85. Not even close. Allen was unbelievable or not very good. Despite all the talk about how much is on his shoulders, the Bills won plenty when he wasn’t great. Ravins fared alright when Lamar wasn’t great either.

It wil be really interesting to see what Herbert does this year

While he had a hamstring injury in training camp, the injury that derailed his season happened during a game when he was tackled by a Baltimore defender and landed on his wrist.

I agree the frequency is a bit concerning, but for playing essentially 2.5 years over 4 and still getting the Bengals to the AFC Championship twice and Super Bowl once tells me he is an elite quarterback.
In his playoff starts the Bengals D gave up an average of 18 pts and created a turnover. It doesn’t take an elite QB to win in those circumstances.

Again, really good QB, but he has not been dominant overall in the playoffs. He’s had the fortune of some really great defensive performances. He was a 99 yard fumble recovery on a QB sneak away from getting outdueled by Tyler Huntley in the playoffs last year.

Chargers for sure. Herbert has a ridiculous contract imo.
It’s what always cracks me up after teams sign these QBs to these massive deals and all the NFL talking heads talk like now the team is going to be great for years because tgey “got their franchise QB.” Yeah, their best window to win just closed. Better hope that QB isn’t just a franchise QB, he better be an all-timer.

Mahomes has overcome so many drops and O-line penalties this year. Elite.

Let's put it in the context of their conversation. They wondered which game would have the higher rating tomorrow. Why? Iowa is on big Fox (no cable needed) and ISU is on ESPN 2. I don't think it is a stretch to think the women's game would have higher ratings. They were talking about this one game only.

I can’t remember seeing a WR group this bad in the NFL. They are terrible.

And Brady had a lot of great skills, but I’m not sure any were as important as being able to make ends meet while being paid below market value.

You can upgrade multiple positions from bad to All Pro if you aren’t eating a $45M plus cap hit for your QB.

Murph is one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met, honestly, similarly to Ed Wilson. He just has a weird hard on for a 22 year old woman’s basketball player.

I've been listening most of the morning. We're 40 minutes in and I don't think there has been a single mention of Iowa States big road win at Cincinnati with our top 10 team last night.

To be clear, this is a Des Moines-area station, correct? Not like Cedar Rapids or something?
