Wonder if there is concern about Mesenbrink? Seems far fetched, but say O’Toole does go on Sunday, and Carr wins, then the script flips at the Big12’s where O’Toole wins.

Does Mesenbrink possibly jump them both from an RPI standpoint assuming he wins out, which he likely will (win out, I mean)?

If so, you have both O’Toole and Carr on the same side of the bracket at nationals. Might be able to avoid that scenario if the match doesn’t happen Sunday.

This is the only thing that makes any sense at all looking at it from the O’Toole camp.

I think some coaches play the what-if scenario until their knees bleed and others just stay on their feet and let the kids wrestle and see how it plays out. David had the 1 seed last year and had a hell of a draw to get to the finals so nothing is ever guaranteed. In my opinion those who duck tend to end up getting what they got coming eventually and it never works out
