I think we'd still get Omaha if we're at the 1/2 level, but didn't something similar happen in 2000? We got the 2 seed and Minneapolis the first weekend, but was it worth having to go to Detroit?
It's come out by reliable sources (Blum) that ISU was in discussion for the 4th #1 or 1st #2 in 2000. 1 seed was out west not sure where the first 2 rounds would have been played or 2 seed Midwest with 1st 2 rounds in Minneapolis. ISU administration pushed for the 2 seed to get the Minneapolis games. Horrible mistake in hindsight but understandable at the time

Would've played in Salt Lake and Albuquerque to get to the Final Four from the West that year.

I’m not saying this happens, but something similar could happen this year, where we push for Omaha by getting the lowest two seed. But then get saddled in the East region with UConn in Boston, if the Huskies are the top overall seed

Carolina’s resume is weak AF. This is classic “name on the jersey” bull $hit from the bracketologists.

Learn basketball, we just faced the #1, #10, and #20 defense in the last 13 days. It's almost like elite defenses can make good offenses look bad sometimes.

And ISU closed out in the wins which in a way is encouraging offensively.

I'm done wondering if people watch many games/teams outside of ISU and am wondering if this is their first college basketball season.

This is what I was recalling and noting in my post (#307) a few weeks ago. Seems pretty far-fetched looking back but that's the way I heard it as well...

They give you your closest site for the first round. Might be west regional but it would be Omaha
Maybe that's why I'm not thinking about this right. But if you have Houston, Purdue, UConn, and ISU as 1 seeds then the sites would be:

Memphis-Houston
Indianapolis-Purdue
Brooklyn-Uconn
Omaha-ISU

You are telling me that the committee wouldn't put a 1 seed in the Western time zone?

2023 number 1 seeds
KU played in DSM
Houston and Alabama played in Birmingham, AL
Purdue played in Columbus, OH

There were only 2 sites in the western time zone last year and there was no number one in that time zone.

Yes, ISU would be in the West regional which is LA, but the first 2 rounds would definitely be in Omaha. Sweet 16 and elite 8 in LA

The other sad part about how it played out. The number one seed in each of the other 3 regions got beat fairly early in the tourney. MSU was the only #1 seed to survive to the E8. Where we got to play them as a #2. The rest is history.
Yep, final four was two 8 seeds, a 5 seed and a 1 seed. ISU lost in the national championship, it just happened to be the elite 8

Ok. If we get a number 1 seed and don't play in Omaha there will be hell to pay.
