I’m okay with the loss today. The offense has been bad for a while, but they have continued to win games. Now the staff will be forced to make adjustments and change some things up because of the loss. I’m not saying they haven’t adjusted game to game, there just appears not to be much emphasis on it. As far as the ncaa tourney goes, some of us need to realize this is a completely different team than last year, and emotionally triggered

if today serves as a wake-up call, we might go on a Final Four run.

if this was a sign of things to come, then... (deep breath)... eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeekkk.

i think we'll find out which it is next week in the Big 12 Tournament.

I’m fine with 1-1 in the B12 tourney. 2 or 3 seed is fine with me.

Feeling no different other than we do need to get the offense going if we want to make the Elite 8/Final Four type of run.

We should have a good chance to get to the Sweet 16 with our defense, but it’s the tournament so let’s see. This team still has what it takes to have a magical run, but a lot of that is the luck of the draw and luck of how you and your opponent are playing.

Houston is proof that the whole tired excuse holds no merit. They play the same intense defense as ISU and do not have any more depth than we do. Every team is tired this time of year, and just because you play elite defense doesn't mean you automatically run out of gas. We continue to play awesome defense, but just look unconfident on the offensive end. Offensively we have taken a step in the right direction this year, but still do not have a lot of great offensive talent. Here's to hoping the fairly good offense that we had earlier this year comes back. If it does we will be very dangerous in the tourney.

I'm not very confident at all going into the post-season after seeing them in person today.

I wouldn't even be upset if they lost in KC early. Some extended rest might be the best thing right now.

I guess we are kind of like EIU football ("If we just had a KenPom Top 50 offense...").

Not the same thing. Houston has a few legit offensive weapons and we have maybe one (CuJo). So our defensive intensity and theirs each takes a big toll on the players BUT they have guys who are very good offensively, so that drop off from the defensive effort isn’t as glaring. Our lack of offensive weapons makes our defensive intensity hurt even more because we already aren’t good shooters.

So yes we need to get better offensive players as TJ goes along. He will.

Houston doesn't trap the same way and has athletes to straight defend so it is different.

Imo ISU doesn't look like they're under water like this time last year or two years ago but it still may affect their shooting a bit.

Agreed with this. We are better than the last two years by far. Doesn’t mean we still can’t go cold and get knocked out first game in the NCAA Tournament. Let’s hope we find a little spark after next week.

And I keep saying it but ISU could be flying high late 80s UNLV style on offense like some seem to think they did with Hoiberg and still not get to 60 on the first day.

Like they did with Hoiberg.

The offense has looked rough in every game back to at least the Houston game. Lipsey and Gilbert seem like they are less than 100%. The team just seems gassed. Not sure there is enough time to do anything about it. I feel like we should be able to get 1 win in the B12 and the NCAA just based on our seeding, but I have no confidence of anything more than that.

I think any talk about us losing to a 14 or 15 seed is crazy, but if the offense doesn't improve I wouldn't at all be surprised if we lost to a 6 or 7 seed.
The Cyclones aren't talented enough that losing to a 6 or 7 would be a surprise. Very disappointing for sure.

78th now in Ken Pom adjusted offense, man that is a collapse.

I'm just not sure where we get offense from, just so damn easy to defend right now. Staff really needs to get creative on that end quickly.

I don't feel great today. One decent offensive performance in Kansas City would likely have me completely forget the last 2-3 weeks. The whole tournament is a crap shoot. It’s the greatest and dumbest sporting event in the world.
